Soon as I get ink for my printer (anybody wanna buy a kidney? Only slightly used), I'll be all over the Ecto 1, and the BSG models. You got me in the fandoms with those.

Who ya gonna call?

Here it is...finally! Waiting for the Season Finale of this Koolwheelz series was like fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Well, you get the point. airdave closed out the series with one of my favorite movie cars (from one of my favorite movies). We had some snarky fun in the days leading up to the release-- sorry if I spoiled it for you. (Not really, with that profile, Ecto-1 was the only thing it could be!) Like all of airdave's Koolwheelz, Ecto-1 does not disappoint.

This is my second build of Ecto-1. I abandoned my first attempt; I wasn't happy with how the rear of the car came out. At the rear, there are 3 folds-- valley-mountain-mountain-- that are pretty close together. On my first build, I didn't score quite hard enough, and the folds weren't sharp. This led to an unsatisfactory rear bumper/deck, so chalked that up to a learning build and started over. Lesson learned.

I built this "stock", with one modification. Before I cut out the chassis, I glued squares of 1mm-ish cardboard to the back of the wheels and colored the edges black after cutting out. This gives the wheels a bit more depth and some weight at the bottom of the model. Totally unnecessary, but glad I did it.

So you should totally download and build Ecto-1. It's a fun little model, everything fits very nicely. There is one thing to remember, however, as you apply glue to this model: Don't cross the streams. It would be bad. Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light. OK, important safety tip.

On a (somewhat) serious note: if you enjoy the free models from airdave (or any of our many other designer friends here at papermodelers.com), show your support by heading over to their respective sites (or ecardmodels.com) and make a purchase. These folks do amazing work to keep our hobby fresh and accessible to all. If you do this one thing, you will get a great model to build, but more importantly, Lenny, you will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters!

Dave did a great job on the ecto-1 design and the build isn't too shabby either. 8-)

Dave I sincerely hope there are more to come and that your models never stop coming. I'm still hoping the H-Man super duper lawn mower is still on your list. That would be a very crazy Super Dave style model. One can always wish. Right? Love your stuff. wc

So, do you guys want some more Koolwheelz or what??!@!!

I got a whole new batch of models ready to publish (eight of them to be exact)!
You wanna try to guess what the first one will be?

Would you like to play a guessing game?

If so, I'll start a brand new thread, and lay out the ground rules.
I have a KOOL prize idea for the winner.

let me know what you think.
And, post some more models!
