DeHavilland Sea Vixen red Bull repaint

One of the trickiest repaints I have attempted so far...this Sea Vixen from ecardmodels (ThaiPaperworks)!

but a lot of fun!...I would have quit a long time ago, if i didn't find this so interesting.

I am going to post a few details about the repaint, and hopefully get some feedback...maybe some detail suggestions.
I will also be looking for a test build at some point, so anyone interested should keep an eye on the thread.

Its a slow repaint...I gave up on the idea of trying to do it fairly quickly. Now I am taking my time trying to make it a worthwhile repaint!

At this point I have the majority of the "basic" colours in place.

The plane is Silver (which I am forced to recreate with a gradient grey tone)
and deep blue (shhh I used the actual red Bull colour code)
with yellow and red graphics.

Its tricky getting the large underbelly logo to line up properly, but i think I have got it!

I am also beginning work on adding some of the smaller details that should bring the whole paint job to life.
An earlier request for a more detailed "co-pilot" canopy has been answered.

Question for those interested in this Sea Vixen...

The Red Bull aircraft/paint scheme is obviously best viewed when the plane is in flight. And so, personally, I would assemble this model with "gear up".
(For this reason, I am not putting any effort into adding any wheel opening details)

Would you do the same?
and would you be interested in a Display Stand to allow this?
(or would you design your own display method?)

and...
I am making a small mod to the kit, to instruct the builder to omit the extra (wing) fuel tanks...which are obviously not visible on the Red Bull version.

I think a stand that showed it off as though in a turn like pictured would be cool

I agree...a stand that puts the plane in the same position as in the photo
would be the ideal look.

If I had a completed model, I might be willing to attempt a design.
Maybe someone who has already built this plane, might be interested in helping to design a display stand.

In return, maybe we could offer a free Red Bull Version for their efforts?

Let me know if anyone is interested in giving it a try.

For my money, I would appreciate a repaint that did not use grey to simulate bare or painted aluminum. That way, I could print the model on Red River silver paper and get a realistic finish.

The inclusion or omission of a display stand never influences my decision to purchase a model. In this case, I would make my own Red Bull backdrop and mount the model on that.

What will influence my decision to buy is the degree to which the model allows me to achieve a realistic finish. To whit, can I print it on RR silver paper or not?

A repaint with do not use grey is only useful for the ones wich are going to use a silver paper.

I prefer to have the grey and if I want to use a silver paper just to delete the grey with any editor like the inkscape or corel.

Perhaps, then, two versions for those of us who do not use image processing programs. How difficult is that to do. I really have no idea.
