Being in retail, there's no one more difficult (to please) than the 'customer'. No matter what, you'll always be (in the) wrong.😩😩😩

Probably just did not read anything - a common trend everywhere today.

Reading comprehension is no longer taught in schools. My daughter sells on ebay & etsy and it's amazing the amount of people who don't understand the descriptions of the listed items. Maybe instead of smart bombs we should be making dumb bombs.

I just saw Bernie's post about "bending paper tubes"...
there was another tutorial here about wrapping bent wire with paper strips and then coating in glue. I guess there are many ideas that could be used on a model like this... so I will definitely just include a template for the shape of the parts and recommend the builder find their own method. For myself, I will be using coated (green) Florist's Wire with paper details (Tie Rods). Now...where did I put my stash of Wire?

And if you are a sucker for accuracy you can also try Ricks suggestion for pipes... (in Bernie's post)

Now that the axles are ready to install, I need to add the steering components to the front.
This includes a Steering Box which sits on top of the frame rail, and connects to the right front hub. I'll get to that next. As I already mentioned, my immediate problem is the connecting Tie Rods/Centerlink (between the two front wheels). It is not a straight rod...it is bent to fit around the differential...and it is a bit too narrow to roll in paper. Scale size for the centerlink is about 1.5mm diameter. I am using coated Florist's Wire which is exactly 1.6mm diameter. Perfect. And its green! I know, there are some experts out there, that can roll fine tubes, etc but I am trying to create something that a non-expert can handle. Reluctantly I am forced to suggest using wire to create the centerlink. [You could also use plastic rod,. bent to shape?] ...I will include a simple diagram for the centerlink. The Tie Rods are very small...so I kept them as simple as possible...only two parts. Two small rolled tubes... roll one tightly on the wire(centerlink) and then butt it up to the second rolled tube (vertical). The brackets on the wheel hubs are bent and curved to glue flat against the side of the vertical tube. (You can imagine the size of the parts based on the 1.6mm wire)

The diffs are a model upon themselves. It'll be hard to hide them underneath where no one sees them.
Great work!!! |

Rich, the Quad sits pretty high...easy to peak underneath I think.
I'm trying not to go nuts with detail but thats exactly why I decided to go this far ...too much of the chassis is visible.
