Dave's 2019 Holiday Model

Its that time again!...time for a new Holiday model.

so, without further ado, here is Dave's 2019 Holiday Model!
I call it "Another one of Santa's Great Ideas! -or- what were you thinking Kringle?!"

[spoiler-warning] I am about to severely bore and possible injure many of you with a lengthy editorial.
Avert your eyes...look away if you are overly literately sensitive.
I wouldn't want to you to read more than you have to.

This model might not be to everyone's taste, but I really had a lot of fun working on it.
And I feel maybe it needs an explanation...

This years Holiday model almost didn't happen.
I just didn't have any ideas.
Then, after looking through a collection of past, incomplete Holiday projects, I came up with a whole new concept.
My imagination played out a Christmas Eve story that I could turn into a Holiday model.

I really enjoyed the movie The Santa Clause.
The idea of a normal average family guy (funny man Tim Allen) being magically thrown into being Santa Claus.
And years before that movie, I was a big fan of TV's Tim the Toolman Taylor (Tim Allen once again)
and all his many failed attempts to add way too much horsepower to every machine and gadget he owned.

I imagined Santa(Tim) with his own "concepts" workshop.
Full of failed ideas and unfinished inventions.
I wanted to design a complete diorama...or at least a backdrop of this workshop.
But unfortunately that would mean too big of a project and I had to curb my idea.

But, you do get the main parts of this particular Christmas Eve scenario...

from when Santa realizes (late into the magical evening),
that shoe-horning a surplus Jet Engine into the Christmas Sleigh might not work!
The idea looked good on his blackboard...or so he thought!!

Maybe you can build the model and come up with your own backdrop or diorama scene.
Or figure out a unique way to display the parts of this year's Holiday model.
I`d be very interested in seeing what you come up with!

You can download the 2019 Holiday model from my Forum (www.papermodelforum.com), in the Holiday Models section.
You can also (for a short time) download all the past Holiday models.

Ha! Love it!

I especially like the blackboard portion (I'm a big fan of seeing design processes).

Thanks for this!
