Just for fun...I decided to check the new graphics on the tail sections
by printing out the parts at full size and assembling them!

But only on regular weight paper, so they won't hold the proper shape.
(and I printed with "fast draft" so it only uses about 20% of normal ink)

Anyway, it gives you an idea of scale compared to the test build I have been showing here.

hee hee I put one section in backwards! LOL

Latest update...

been a while since I worked on this plane since i have run into a couple of problems.

First, I'm running out of ink!
we all know what thats about.
Blue parts are printing purple now!! lol

I have to decided to muddle along with this build just to prove it all works.
and to get the thing finished and into the store asap.

I will be building another for myself at a later date, so I'm not overly concerned with the imperfections in this build.
(I will go back up in scale...maybe 75%-%80 of the original size?)

Apparently the full size version is close to a meter in length!
woohoo - excellent!

Second - I am having a lot of trouble figuring out the Wing structures.
The instructions are poor and I can't seem to find other build photos for reference.

I think I have finally figured out the build up of the wing support skeleton.
But I'm still stumped by the Tail Plane internals...and theres only three pieces! LOL

I also have concerns about how to attach the wings to the fuselage.
I am considering adding a center support, that will go through the fuselage
and join the two wing supports.

If anyone has any suggestions in this regard, please...

On my first build of Nobi's C-130, I made the main wing former out of balsa wood. It worked pretty well, but you have to be careful not to have it wider (taller in height) than the original formers.

The wing root filets do cover up some boo boos.

do you have any build photos?

"wing root filets" LOL guess it would help if I understood some of these terms!

A fillet is a transition piece that blends one assembly into another. They are typically found where the wing root meets the fuselage and sometimes around the roots of the tail surfaces. The can be fairly small, not much more than a strip of metal, or can be quite substantial as in the case of the Japanese J2M3 Raiden.

Got the lower fuselage section in place...Marines logo lines up nicely.
Closed up the wheel bay doors (since I'm not building gear at this scale).

The doors have not been designed to fit (closed),
so you need to hand cut them and make them fit.

I have stopped printing parts, since I am very low on printer ink
and all Blue parts are now coming out purple!

Got some cartridges on order, but they might take a while.

Still fiddling with the support pieces for the wings and trying to figure out the assembly procedure.
Maybe its just me, but I am completely stumped on all the parts assembly for the tailplane and tail wings.

I've done enough to confirm all my graphics questions and concerns
and I've made the necessary minor adjustments.
I'm going to concentrate on finishing the files and getting the model into Chris's shop
and worry about the rest of the build later.
In fact, I might just drop this reduced scale build at this point
and try a larger version once I get new Ink.

next pics I post will be the JATO (rocket bottles) I have designed for the model...just finishing that up tonight.
stay tuned!
