C-130T Fat Albert Airlines (Blue Angels)
My next repaint for ecardmodels.com...
Fat Albert Airlines C-130T Hercules Blue Angels Support Plane Chris has the Herc in his shop now. I wanted a model of Fat Albert... so that means a new repaint! The repaint is actually finished...I just need to check some basic graphic elements for fit and alignment... so I decided to print out the fuselage panels and check the lettering and striping, etc. Since I didn't need to build the entire aircraft to do this, I decided to print out certain pages of parts at about 50% reduction on regular writing paper to conserve ink and paper (and effort). I checked the fit and everything looked great. But then I realized it would be nice to see the completed model and get a couple of photos...but... me and small models don't get along. me and small parts don't get along. me and thin paper don't get along. so, it makes sense that I would attempt to build this model at about 1/100 scale with lots of small parts printed on 20lb paper ...right? LOL so...keep in mind...the build you see, is about half the actual scale size. (its also attempted by an inexperienced builder using lightweight paper instead of cardstock)

I have decided to take lots of photos of this build
and try to curb my narrative...I love to type/talk! lol I'll add just the important details. I started by cutting out and assembling the fuselage panels to check the graphics alignment. Once I had decided to build the model, I glued all the internal formers to two layers of (cereal box) cardboard using 3M spray adhesive. A closer look at the fuselage panels and how they line up. I have started to assemble the Cockpit/Nose sections by attaching some of the glueing strips.

Woo-hoo!! I'll be standing in line for this one. NOBI's C-130 and C-123 are both excellent models and some of your great repaints will be greatly appreciated. Perhaps a Coast Guard C-130 and/or C-123? They both served with a number of air forces around the globe so there are a wide variety of schemes to choose from.

I'm always open to suggestions for repaints.
can't guaranty how fast i'll get to them but all I need is a pic or two and the name/designation to get me started on some research. (and yes...I do search and create a large library of photos and info for each of my repaints.)

Did some more nose assembly and just processed a few more pics...
All parts ready for assembly now and I start assemblng the section rings of the nose. First former installed in the nose cone...at this size, its actually unnecessary. Second former in the nose IS necessary, becuase the thin paper is tricky to keep in shape. You can also see how I attached the cockpit sections, leaving the side tabs to last.

Continuing with the nose assembly, I now attached the side tabs.
and the front nose sections attached to the cockpit nose section to complete the front fuselage assembly. All went together nicely, all the graphics lined up nicely but the thin paper is easy to wrinkle and distort. The internal formers actually made this more difficult! lol Although I'm sure they will be important at a larger scale. Heres the underside of the nose assembly and you can see how I have fitted the wheel well opening door in place. Because of the smaller scale, I don't plan on building the Gear so I cut out the section for the gear door and glued it to a larger piece of paper and mounted it from the inside. I recommend colouring edges a little better ...because of the thin paper and ink bleed, I have opted to avoid the edge colouring.

thanks!
update....currently I have all the joining strips coloured navy blue. I figured that it would help showing through any gaps but the thin paper is allowing the blue to show through under the white and yellow colouring. So I will switch all the joining strips back to plain white. (This way the builder can hand colour if he/she so pleases)
