Rare & Unusual Paint Schemes Series 3 - B-24 Liberator!

YUP!
its time for a new series!

Just started working on Series 3...four interesting and unusual B-25 Liberators.

Got a few projects on the go at the moment, including some more important airbrushing work, that actually brings in some money!
...so, no guaranty as to how fast I will get an Issue into the store! lol but I'm workin' on 'em!!

These will be my biggest repaint projects to date!
Kooklik's U-Boat was definately a challenge...
but the B-24s are getting a lot of colour, graphics, surface textures and details!
With about ten pages of parts each, these are definately the most labour intensive aircraft repaints I have done to date!


The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was an American heavy bomber, designed and largely built by the Consolidated Aircraft Company of San Diego, California. It was produced in greater numbers than any other American combat aircraft of World War II, and still holds the record as the most-produced American military or naval aircraft. The B-24 was used by several Allied air forces and navies, and by every branch of the American armed forces during the war, attaining a distinguished war record with its operations in the Western European, Pacific, Mediterranean, and China-Burma-India Theaters.

Just bought a couple of your Spitfires and now I have something else to look forward to.
I don't know if they qualify as "rare and unusual" but I would love to see some of the Ploesti raiders,especially the desert pink versions.
Otherwise there are some very interesting anti-submarine schemes,both U.S. and R.A.F.
Looking forward to whatever you come out with.

The most unusual B-24 schemes tended to be the formation ships in stripes and polka dots of cright colors. Atelier Kecay: Assembly Ships of the Mighty Eighth

And then there was The Dragon and His Tail. AVIATION ART HANGAR - Dragon and His Tail by Stan Stokes (B-24)

The issue might be matching up the color schemes with the available marks of Liberator models.

I have a couple of questions for you guys...

I am fiddling away with Marek's B-24, doing my repaints
and I am attempting to redesign a couple of parts within this kit
to better suit one of the models I am repainting.

I was hoping for any suggestions that might help improve the model
(ie resizing formers)
so if anyone has experience with Marek's B-24, please offer up any criticisms.
Might as well make these changes while I have the kit ripped open!

Resizing formers...I know that Marek is known for having former fit issues (sorry),
without building the entire bird myself, I am guessing at how well all the formers fit in this kit
...would it make sense to slightly oversize all formers (and include the suggestion to resize as necessary)?
Or just leave as is?

Parts 28C and 28C...is this just a typo? should be 28B + 28C

Part 29a is on page 3 & 4, it is the engine front. And I agree, 29c/c is a typo.
