Got to see the HUG back when I was about 10 (1968) and will never forget it, never did see the LRW always wish I had. Very cool video, thanks for posting them Dave. Now how about the "LA Dart" or how about one of those old school pick-up haulers in the video....Rich

Between putting out the latest RCAF Tutor jet model
and working on the next Tutor jet model
and building a PT Boat kit
I seem to have found the time to go back and work on an already started KoolWheelz project.

No matter where you go...there you are.

it'll be a dumbed down (KoolWheelz) version....but yes, thats what it is!

I recently watched Duck Dodgers in the 23rd and a half Century, and...

no...wait...Buckaroo Bonzai, Across the 8th Dimension...yeah, thats it.

And I was reminded of how bad the Eighties were! lol
But I was also reminded of how hot Ellen Barkin is.
And thats a whole other story.

Lets face it...this movie is awful.
But awful in a very special way.
This is a unique, and very important part of science fiction movie history.

Its not a joke.
Its more of an experimental film.
As Peter Weller puts it, its more "art" than movie.

Don't worry if you don't get it...the actors didn't get it either.
And yet Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Goldblum and others
will tell you that they are glad they made it and it is a very special film.

Its very unfortunate that they did not continue with the series.
It looks like more movies were planned.

Actually, for a better understanding of BB,
this Kevin Smith podcast, from the 49th NY film festival,
really sums it all up and answers a few more questions.
If you are a fan of Buckaroo Bonzai, or just curious, check it out.

thanks for the link, I will check it out. and I DID get it. Its still one of my favorite movies. just looking back at the amount of talent they had (everybody in it went on to fame,) and the humor was just so subtle it made me laugh the whole movie (war, the short form, war of the worlds spoof, everybody named john, the list goes on and on...) A very under appreciated movie. then again I also thought "1941" was under appreciated too.

I had no problem with the storyline either.
I thought I got it.
Until I watched this podcast, and realized how confusing some elements are.
There are parts that really make no sense
...and yet, they seem to within the context of the confusion.

I think the eighties had a lot to do with it.
Lets face it, eighties fashion and style made absolutely no sense.

...
1941 was a good film.
I must definitely find it and rewatch it.

Anything with John Belushi was good too.

Do you have On Demand, Dave? 1941 is on it, and almost watched it last night. Coincidence

Is that pay-TV?
I already pay too much, and get nothing.
No, I'll watch it on the web somewhere.

You… are my hero!

Loved this movie as only a junior high geek could. Got re-interested in it about 15 years ago during my Geek Revival period.

And yes, Ellen Barkin...
