I have been fiddling about with this latest KoolWheelz model for a few weeks.
Trying to decide on a version...the car was reproduced each year, using current models, from 1966 to 1972. I was leaning towards the 1970 style that was copied as a 1/25 scale plastic model. (I had that model!) But Shrewsberry's wheelstanding Dart is famous for its underneath belly pan, only visible during extreme wheelstands and painted to match the body of the car. However this covered undercarriage appears on the very early Dart racecars, not the 1970. Then, theres the rear engine Hemi powerplant, sitting in the trunk of the car, with its eight exhaust stacks. Engines at this scale have always proved to be a problem and such small parts are difficult to work with. With the motor this prominent and visible, I tried to put a little more detail and shape into it. But this has made it tricky to build, and those eight little tubes are an exercise in patience. So, I contemplated going back to the drawing board... but after starting on a few other projects, and realizing its best left as is I decided to leave it alone and publish it. So, I give you another classic Drag Race car, from the famous Wild Bill Shrewsberry. One of my favorites, even though I am not a 60s Dodge fan. And another one of the wildest wheelstanders. And, a more difficult model to build. The L.A. Dart. In the racerz section now!

Thanks for another great model, Dave. I remember seeing photos of the LA Dart in Hot Rod magazine back in the day. I wish I had my car mag collection now - it would be great to reminisce about the days when it was a big deal for a top fueler to hit 200mph.

Thank you Dave. A very colorful little model.
Heads up, the link for the Hemi under glass seems to inoperative.

Great add to a already great collection Super Dave. I love the huge engine on it. This is the Dave we have all come to know and love. What's next? Love your work Dave. wc

I forgot to mention that I eventually blended the early L.A.Dart with the later L.A.Dart.
I wanted to create the 1970 Dart just like the plastic kit I had but I wanted to incorporate the underside "belly" pan. So thats what I did. Like it or lump it!
