We didn't know what you were getting at, but we did know what you were up to: Surprising us.
Tanks for sharing!

Some years back at a local model contest there were a couple of guys that made models for sci-fi. The were using vacuum cleaner bodies with various bits and pieces from model kits and other things to make star ships.

I think there are quite a number of movie and TV show spacecraft that are covered in - for example, tank kit parts. A quick and easy way to add surface detail to models.

Studying the surface of this model, you can see all kinds of tank and Car parts.
This didn't surprise me at all. But to find parts of a Centurion...a big part...in such a prominent place, when I just finished working on a Centurion Tank. It really struck me as a big and strange coincidence. Anyway, moving on to the next strange coincidence... we've already had some discussion about what scale and size to do the Raider model. As I already mentioned I owned the original Monogram plastic model of the BSG Cylon Raider. This is one of the reasons I wanted to recreate the vehicle in Koolwheelz style. And, since I have already created the BSG Viper, it makes sense to include the Raider too! The original BSG Viper is supposedly 27 foot long. I used this information to make the model a similar scale to my Koolwheelz Galileo model. The actual Star Trek Galileo Shuttlecraft was 24 foot long. When I started laying out the template for the Koolwheelz Cylon Raider, I was hoping to match the Viper model scale. Unfortunately this meant that the model Parts were too big to fit on one page. They would actually need more than two pages! The main Fuselage part also needed to be broken into multiple pieces. This of course is unacceptable and goes against too many Koolwheelz design principles. So, I considered reducing the Raider model to half size (about 50% of the Viper scale). Then...I came across this photo of the original Monogram Raider and Viper plastic models together. I never owned the Viper model, so I was unaware of its scale size. Surprisingly, it looks like Monogram did the very same thing I was forced to do. The Cylon Raider kit is roughly 50% scale size of the Viper. Either the Viper kit would be too small or the Raider would be HUGE if they had matched scales! So now my decision and the scale relationship between these two models makes a lot more sense. By reducing the Raider model to 50%, I can not only fit the Parts, but the scale comparison is almost the same as Monogram had to deal with! ... In an effort to keep the model in line with the Koolwheelz "one-sheet" idea, I reduced the final model by 50%, allowing me to get everything on one model sheet. Unfortunately, this still did not leave room for the usual Koolwheelz model sheet extras. So, I have reluctantly agreed to make another two-page Koolwheelz model (...only the third time this has been necessary). The "parts" sheet is still only one page...this is the only mandatory printable page, and the first page will include build images, assembly instructions and diagrams ...saving me from producing an additonal Assembly Instruction sheet!

What a coincidence to see this as the live thread for this morning. I just finished printing out 26 pages of Kool Wheelz models to build...You know I'm starting with the Showrodz - all the models I built as a kid growing up.
I can't wait until this one is done.
