Yup...the model has moved already!

Viper is on the new Space Carz page!

The Star Carz page was getting too big,
so I decided to stop adding Space stuff to it.
I had a smaller Space/SciFi area already, but now there is a dedicated page just for those models.
More to come!

#3 of the 2018 Koolwheelz releases (second batch)

----------------------------------------

Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider

As I said before, I was never a big fan of the original series, but I did enjoy the costumes and spaceships
and I especially loved the Cylon spacecraft design.
So much so, that I purchased the original Monogram plastic kit of the Cylon Raider.

This is a Koolwheelz model that I have been trying to design for a very long time.
Finding a way to capture the unique shape of the Cylon spacecraft with minimal parts has been a challenge.
But the complicated positive/negative compound curve shape of the craft has always had me stumped.

I finally decided to eliminate much of the central shape of the spacecraft ...for the sake of design simplicity.
No, its not perfect...but, from the right angles, it does look close enough to a Cylon spacecraft!

Scale size was definitely a problem, since the Cylon Raider is suggested to be 45 feet wide and 35 feet front to back.
This means, to match the scale of my Colonial Viper (Koolwheelz) model, the Raider kit would be twice the size and need three pages of parts!
In fact, the main Fuselage part would not fit on to one sheet, and would need to be separated into multiple smaller parts.

So, I opted for a much smaller scale model...keeping the Parts confined to one model sheet.
But I needed the whole page just for Parts.
So this also means the kit is two pages...the first page contains all the usual page extras...and I combined it with assembly diagrams and instructions.
Page two is all the Parts.

If you owned the original Monogram plastic model Raider and Viper kits, you'll find the scale relationship is almost the same,
with the Cylon Raider being about half scale to the Viper. So my Koolwheelz model scale relationship makes a lot more sense now!

Maybe someone can come up with a Display Stand? I didn't have the time...or the room (on the model sheet).
For now, you can display the Raider sitting on a Scale Cube.

Find the Cylon Raider in the (StarCarz) SpaceCarz section of the Koolwheelz Collection.

And yes...if you wanted to build it in "flight" mode...not "combat" mode...you can.
Just leave out the wing extensions and cannons, and "retract" the wing tips to the main body.
It doesn't look that great, but the option is there!

Good looking again, AD.
So I'd need to enlarge the Raider by 200% to keep in 'scale' with the Viper, ST: Galileo and the S1999 Eagle (@ 175%) with all ~ 1/72.

Thanks AirDave for all your hard work and for sharing it with the rest of us

ok, if you say so. LOL

Galileo and Viper are close to same scale size.
The Viper is suggested to be 27', and the Shuttle is about 24' long.

I don't know what the Eagle length (or scale) is.

Yes, the Raider is about half size to the Viper.

I don't know Galileo 5?

I looked it up...and I am unsure why I would put out a model of it?

Coleman - Galileo 5

Oh, you must mean this:....?

Galileo 5 and 6 Recovery | GALILEO
