Just asking..
show me what you mean.
this sounds interesting.

I know what the trap is, just not sure what you are thinking as a display?
The Firehouse is just too big....maybe.

Basically a trap that would be large enough for Ecto1 to sit on comfortably.
Like the Trap doors. (if I remember correctly) the Black/Yellow area on top.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant...
but I made up a flat display card for the Ecto-1.

Print on cardstock and glue it to some foamcore (as I have) or some stiff card.

Download it here: koolwheelz ECTO-1 base

Forgot to update this thread...I think it should be copied here....

As was discovered last week, the first new model of this new series is
The Bank Buster...The Fantom's Tank...from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I loved this movie.
I know fans of the original comic book series did not.
And I know that Connery didn't do his best work in this one.
And... I know there were legal problems and negative reviews.

But I loved it, and was very disappointed that sequels did not get made.
Although there was talk back in 2015 of a reboot.

I especially loved the art and production of the film...Nemo's Submarine was fantastic
even though it couldn't possibly fit in any River or manouever the canals of Venice!

And, since I have already created a model of Nemo's fantastic six-wheeled Car, I wanted to add something else.

The "Bank Buster" really only appears in the opening scenes of the film,
but the rhomboid WW1 style Tank makes a memorable appearance.
The Tank is used to break into a Bank ...and Vault... in a daring robbery helmed by the movie's villain The Fantom.
Although the film is set in an alternate reality, I think its roughly based on a British WW1 tank design
...even though the scene takes place in 1899, more than 15 years ahead of its time in our reality.

It has a forward mounted cannon which is protected by a moveable forward Hull extension.
More of these Tanks are seen in production at the Fantom's secret base, much later in the film,
but they are mainly static props (miniatures) seen from a distance.
The opening scenes are the only ones where you see the full size Tank in action.

I've sized the model in a similar scale to my other rhomboid Tank (Indiana Jones).
You'll find the Tank in the Star Carz section, but it also makes a great addition to the Military vehicles section...at my website.

I don't think it needs it, but I have created an Assembly sheet for this model.
Look in the Assembly Diagrams area at my forum.

And as a follow up to the above post...MichaelS has pointed out (to me)
a small error on the LoEG Tank model sheet.

There is a rear panel...
part of the 'engine room" addition to the rear of the Tank
which has long side glue tabs.
These tabs should be shorter to match the side panels (which they connect to)
and need to be trimmed.
The lower part of this rear panel just glues flat to the back of the body,
so it doesn't need long tabs.

The diagram attached below shows how the tab should be.

You will probably figure it out during assembly,
but I have already updated the LoEG Tank Model sheet.
If you download it again, you'll get the fixed version.

As promised...
and as stated in the last release, no Teaser images with this batch.

Its the Eagle 5 from Spaceballs

The best thing to come out of the Star Wars universe...in my opinion.
...is Mel Brooks farcical take on the saga and other great sci-fi films...SpaceBalls.

In the same great tradition of comedy farces like Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles,
Mel Brooks spared no expense creating a big budget epic...poking fun at the Star Wars story and its characters.

The evil Dark Helmet has to be one the best ideas for character parody, played masterfully by Rick Moranis.

The lead "hero" is Lone Starr and his sidekick Barf (a human size cat?) and they travel the universe in their Eagle 5 Winnebago spacecraft.
Literally, a modified Winnebago Chieftain 33 foot RV with wings and space engines!

I see it on TV all the time, and I am always tempted to stop and watch a few minutes...
although I have only ever seen the entire film once...many decades ago.
I really don't remember it that well...

and I never wanted to add the Eagle 5 to my Koolwheelz collection because its a fairly large model (even at Koolwheelz scale)
and because the vehicle is already available, as a paper model, from at least two other designers on the Webanet.

However...both of those models are somewhat stylized and are not entirely accurate to the film model
...and one is not the correct style and design of Winnebago motorhome.
So, I figured "what the heck", lets give it a try and see what I could come up with.

I decided to try to match the scale of my other Motorhome models and keep the design close to average Koolwheelz scale.
My first attempt to get the model down to as few parts as possible, still required more than two full sheets of parts...with no room for anything else.
And after building the beta version, I realized it really needed to be scaled down much further.

I don't know what the final scale of the model is...I haven't calculated...but it is slightly smaller than the Stripes EM-50 Motorhome.
Although it doesn't look that small, because of the wings and overall wingspan...it is still the biggest Koolwheelz model to-date.
Only Koolwheelz model that is longer, is the Budweiser Hitch Team.

Even though I stylize my models to simplify the parts and construction, I still put a lot of effort into duplicating the correct shape,
the proper dimensions, and the correct exterior details and artwork.

I decided not to complicate the model with an undercarriage or underbody elements...just not enough room for the parts on the model sheet.
And I decided not to weather the look as much as the movie model.
I tried to (at first) but wasn't happy with any of my attempts.
So, consider this a freshly spacewashed Eagle 5. Barf polished her up real good!

As I mentioned, this is a two page model...with enough room on the second sheet to add an assembly diagram.
I think its all fairly straightforward...we won't bother with a separate Assembly Sheet for this one.

You can find the model download in the Star Carz section at my website.

Interesting tidbit about Spaceballs...
Producer Mel Brooks asked, and got full permission, from George Lucas to parody his Star Wars film.
Lucas not only agreed but gave him carte blanche on Star Wars subject matter, with only one stipulation...
absolutely no Spaceballs related merchandising after the film was made.
LOL To me, it really illustrates where Lucas primary focus always lies.

This is why there are no Spaceballs related toys, or collectibles.

Ha!

That would explain the merchandising bit in the film...

Never knew this, thanks for enlightening us.

Oh, and thanks for the model!

Can I ask you guys a couple of questions?
re: my Website and the Koolwheelz section.

When you go to the Koolwheelz section, for the first time, or after your cache has cleared
and you click on the StarCarz section...
how long does it take to load?
(Assuming you have decent Internet connection...those with really poor Internet need not answer)

The reason I ask is that the StarCarz page is the biggest, with the most Koolwheelz links.
Its now about 9000 pixels tall.
I keep extending pages every time I add a new Koolwheelz model.
So, it keeps growing ...more than any other section.

But the Starcarz page is getting too long I think?

I already tried creating some new sub-sections and moving a couple of models,
but it didn't really make a dent.
And although I hate adding more pages, I am thinking I might have to break up the Star Carz section
into at least two pages (or more, depending on the sub-topics).

Do you have any suggestions?
For sub-topics...or how to split up the StarCarz section?
Or, is it perfectly fine (for you) the way it is?

Well, I just tried it on my Mac desktop with Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.

To be quite honest, it took maybe one second or so to load (if that).

Unless anyone else has major gripes, I would leave it as-is.
