Dave- if it's the fold line on the chassis panel, noticed and knew where to fold - it is the same fold as other side. Anyone have a prob with that shouldn't be building Koolwheelz.

BOSS HOSS has been updated again! LOL

Sorry, but its obvious that a direction on the model sheet is misleading
and if the builder doesn't pay attention to "mountain" and "valley" folding,
they will make a bigger error.

The rear Deck Lid (Trunk/Boot area) is to be scored and bent ONLY at the lower end of the fastback.
You do not crease and bend right out to the edges of the Body (across the Fenders).

AND the fold is a "valley" fold (indicated by a dotted line instead of a dashed line).

I did not want to put the dotted line across the body, but it looks like I will have to
...so that it is clear to the builder where to crease and fold.

I've made the dotted line thin, and white, so it should almost disappear during printing.
It will probably be visible on high res printing like Laser or Photo Paper Printing.

Once again, you'll need to go and redownload the model to get the updated version.

Thank you, sir. After printing this guy, I was puzzling over how that fit together. Makes sense now

Its that time again!

Its NEW Koolwheelz time!

As revealed this past week...its the Alien's Spacecraft from TVs The Invaders.

Okay, this one gets a complete explain...

The Invaders was a Quinn Martin TV show that aired for two seasons in 1967 and 1968 in the USA.
It starred Roy Thinnes ...Thinnes went on to star in many other TV shows and films, including Gerry Anderson's film Doppelganger.
Fun fact... Thinnes was an early consideration for the part of Jean Luc Picard in TVs Star Trek The Next Generation.

Quinn Martin was renowned for his cookie cutter style of TV,
but he had great success with shows like Hawaii 5-0, The Fugitive and 12 Oclock High.
His scripts were highly repetitive and he used the same stories, sets and actors across many of his shows.

The Invaders aired when I was quite young so I never saw it.
And I don't ever remember seeing it in reruns, so maybe it was never syndicated?
But I've always been aware of the plastic model of the Alien Saucer craft...just never paid it much attention.
I've seen references to The Invaders series over the years, but I knew absolutely nothing about the show or its storyline.
Until now.

I was recently able to watch the entire series...all 43 (hour long) episodes.
Thanks interwebs!

Okay, so its not great television...but its not bad either.
In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at the intelligence of the storylines.

[spoilers]
The Invaders focuses on an invading Alien race. Its never revealed where they actually come from or what they look like.
The Aliens take the form of humans and must "regenerate" their appearance at regular intervals.
Roy Thinnes plays a man who had an encounter with an Alien ship, and trvaels the country trying to convince others of their prescence.

The Alien Spacecraft is a saucer style ship not unlike other "saucers" we've seen in films.
It is seen only briefly in the original episode of the show and was created solely using a matte painting.
Quinn Martin was asked about constructing a model for future use, but expected the show to be more about the characters
and replied "you'll never see the ship again" in the show.

However the flying spacecraft was seen again, occasionally ...and again using matte paintings.
For scenes involving a landed spacecraft, only the lower leg sections of the craft were built full size.
Matte paintings were again used for anything seen above the lower legs.
The ship usually took on an eery bluish glow as a result of the cheap hand painted special effect.

I've heard that a model miniature may have been built and used for some the second season episodes, but I have no details on this.
I haven't found any evidence of this other than forum talk.
I'm not sure why they would have bothered at that point, since the show only ran for two seasons in total.

I enjoyed the show enough to warrant making a model of the Alien spacecraft.
But sometimes the simplest designs can be the trickiest paper model projects!
In this case, its tough to assemble a clean and smooth saucer shape.

During the design, I came across another paper model of this same spacecraft.
But it didn't have the convex dome-like shape of the outer saucer.
I decided I wanted to include this shape, with extra parts, even though it added another seam to the outer surface.
Three rings would have made a smoother transition, but the parts wouldn't fit onto the model sheet.
...I am happier with the finished result.

The lower Landing supports are completely optional for static display.
Without them, the artwork makes it look like the in-flight Spacecraft.

Take your time building it...I think it comes out quite nicely.
You'll find the model in the Space Carz section at my website.

Because there was no extra room on the model sheet, I created a separate Assembly Diagram for this one.
Look in the Assembly Diagrams area of my Forum (papermodelforum.com).

Waited and waited. Here's my WIP of the Hoss Boss, in advanced build with as much details as possible and a stock build on chrome or silver paper. No completion date guaranteed, or even completion!

Where's that blasted Like button. I was just going to recess the engine compartment opening, but having it go deep looks really good

Re viruses and malware

One member here (only one) has complained of some sort of "virus" when attempting to download "some Koolwheelz".

The statement was that a "installer.exe" was detected.

Unfortunately I have not been given any specific info...like:
which Koolwheelz?
from where?
what page where you on?
what did you click?
and exactly what proof of a virus or malware?
(in most cases installers are search engine redirects or browser toolbars)

First let me state that my own system is running anti virus and anti malware.
-and-
When I upload a file to Mediafire (thats the site where you download the file)
it is scanned for viruses and malware by them.

I have no reason to deliberately install hidden programs in my model files...I have everything to lose by doing this.
This should alert you to the fact that the virus in question isn't coming from me!

I am going to make a guess ...at a similar? problem ...that arose once, years ago.
And, at that time, I created a special information page just for this problem.
It is on my website, here: Download help

Short explanation...

I run ad-blockers in my browsers (Ad-BlockPlus to be exact, in both Chrome and Firefox)
I can help you install this for free if you like, just ask me.
This way I don't see 90% of the annoying adverts on most websites.

Mediafire (the site that hosts my files) is paid for by advertising.
When you go to the download page to get a Koolwheelz model, you will see advertising on the download page (if you are not running an ad-blocker).

(This is not Mediafire's fault, but) sometimes advertisers make their ads look like other things to trick you into clicking them.
I have seen ads that look like "download" buttons on the mediafire page.
When you click them, you get linked to unwanted places or unwanted downloads.

Its up to you to pay extreme attention to everything you do on the internet.
When you click a link or button, make sure it is the thing you want to click!!
You must always be vigilant and make sure you don't inadvertently download something malicious.
