So, with the recent discussions at papermodelers.com,
about Dalek models... I decided to dig out a KoolWheelz project I started last year*. *I have many KoolWheelz ideas on the go. When I think of something...or...when a KoolWheelz idea is suggested, I usually start a folder, collect some reference pics, start some artwork, etc But many ideas get forgotten about. Some never get finished for a long time...some, never get finished at all. Anyway, I reacquainted myself with the design idea ...went ahead and finished some artwork... and gave it a test build. I wanted to try and simplify it as much as possible (KoolWheelz style) with as few parts as possible. Unfortunately there is a domed top to worry about and a few add on parts. Without the Toilet Plunger, it wouldn't be a Dalek, would it?! At first, I tried to keep it in scale with my Tardis model, but that would have made it way too small to build! Even at this enlarged scale, its still very small...with some very tiny parts! So, I guess this one will get a "Difficult" rating and will be a bit of a challenge for anyone with fat fingers and poor eyesight! lol Yes, I am aware that it is not completely accurate. Since there are so many Dalek designs over 50 years of Doctor Who TV shows and Motion Pictures, I couldn't decide on what look to reference. I opted for the original classic look...from the early 1960s. But, I also simplified the design a little further to make the construction a bit simpler and to improve the small scale print quality. You'll notice there is one less panel on each side of the main skirt of the body. There are less Domes, and the Domes are larger. I also simplified other areas just to keep the artwork scale a little cleaner. There is room on the model sheet for an assembly diagram, so I am working on that now. Once I get the model sheet completed I will publish the model. Stay tuned!

Thank you Super-Dave for thinking about us. I always enjoy collecting your models and reading about your work. These are some great adds. As always, you blow my mind. What else can I say? wc

Looks like another Kool model. Thanks for giving me some small projects to do in-between the bigger ones.

Dear Airdave:
Am I going to be totally Nutz and try it at 1/4 scale for Earrings? Going to try one straight for the daughter anyway. Interesting, Miles I seem to be stuck with the Tom Baker Doctor, Erin is up to date |

Miles, probably half (50%) would do it for earrings.
Only issue will be the add-on parts. The Manipulator is too small and delicate. The Weapon could be rolled and glued, but would get knocked off easily. Same goes for the Eyestalk. Maybe just leave those parts off? John, I did see some very early Dr.Who, but so little that I can't remember. I never liked the show. I was into Stingray and Thunderbirds. I think I may have seen the first film? ...which was in colour. The Peter Cushing film (which is much disliked by Whofans). That was about 1964 I think? From what I could see, there doesn't seem to be a wide range of colours. I went with the blue one since there seems to be a ton of photos of it. I don't know if I'll bother with other colours...people might not even like the model. Its so small, and I haven't made it screen accurate.

Well I like it, and like Miles, if it wasn't already small I'd have tried to shrink it anyway. I guess I'll just have to get the Sharpies out, eh?
The only simple and small Daleks I've seen so far are so simple that the domed head has been totally ignored. It just looks so wrong with a square head.
