Continuing with the October KoolWheelz releases...

Its the Wooden Block Toy Tanker Truck

Who doesn't like building things with Wooden Blocks?
Its the most basic building toy, totally inferior to something like Lego Bricks,
and yet, one can't help stacking these wooden shapes into rickety shapes and structures.
I have to admit, I am fascinated by building things with wooden blocks.

Anyway, a couple of months back, while surfing the world wide webanet,
I came across a photo of a Toy Truck built from various shapes of wooden block and it really caught my eye.

Not sure why, but I really liked the look.
And a second later, I realized it was a "Tanker" Truck...

and a few more seconds after that...
I was imagining this Wooden Tanker Truck as a KoolWheelz miniature!

Obviously I remembered this years IPMC theme "Tanker", and so...

Its a bit big for a KoolWheelz model and it just barely fits on One Model Sheet.
But I reduced it as far as I could, without making it too hard to build.
I wanted to keep this one as easy as possible.

It really doesn't have its own scale reference, and I don't need to match it to any other model.
So, don't ask me what scale it is.

You can find it in the Specialz section of my KoolWheelz Collection.
I hope you enjoy it.

Just downloaded - what a stunning model. New range ? (You could produce sheets of 'blocks' for people to build their own vehicles, and then have a thread for them to be displayed) ((I know, I'm getting carried away *I should be*, but it sounded like a 'sound' idea for us paper modellers / koolwheelzers).

Blade Runner 2049....anyone seen it yet?

Looks like my new Spinner model was pretty close....not exact, but pretty close.
Considering I put this model together and published it 6 months before the film came out
and I worked only from a few images pulled from the early Trailer,
I'd say I did a fairly good job.
"A man's job" as Gaff would say?

Anyway, I just saw the film...in IMAX big screen, big sound.

And I have to say...WOW!

The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic.
Zimmer has recaptured the sound of Vangelis original music...but not to excess.
There are a couple of moments when my eyes welled up.

I don't know if it was the IMAX sound or particular theater that I saw it in,
but it was loud.
A little too loud every now and then.
But I dealt with it.

The IMAX picture is bigger...not just in size, but the framing is larger. More to see.
Thats why I chose to see it in IMAX.

I'm not a Ryan Gosling fan but he was good as K. Very good.
Harrison is old...really old. LOL
Good to see him in this, but Deckard is obviously not a replicant! He's old.

Sexist moment...the women are gorgeous. So gorgeous.
K's girlfriend Joi is heart stopping...but Luv is the bad girl you want to be attacked by!

okay, sorry...moment over.

Its an awesome film. The story is very good.
Sure, theres a few plot holes and what the? moments, like any movie.
But nothing thats annoying enough to hurt the film.

The scenery, vehicles, costumes....all very good throwbacks to the original film.
Some changes...but 30 years has passed.

I didn't compeltely understand the "blackout".
And I really didn't understand Jared Leto's part.
Wallace is a fairly small character in the overall story...and really wasn't necessary in my opinion.
I found his scenes to be pointless and unimportant.
But then, I also don't like the actor Jared Leto...so that didn't help.

I hope I haven't given too many spoilers...just go see it.

That's unexpected. Nice model.
I'm in a time when I don't have much time to build, so I will leave this one for a quieter future.
But expect to see it built by the other nice modelers here.

I have only read positive comments about the film. Will have to watch it, as I was skeptical at first when it was announced.

but thats okay...I'm glad you have found it for the first time.

Don4 (Wei) spent last week with us. He spent much of the time working (he is an independent computer game designer), but found time to help out around the house and fix things that needed fixing. And we had some good times as well.

One was last Tuesday, when he, Lil, and I went to see Bladerunner 2049, had dinner at Issei Noodle, then watched Bladerunner, the final cut. Excellent way to spend a day.

I agree with your comments, Dave. Regarding the Wallace character, Wei opines that a truly evil villain is widely seen as necessary to plot development.

The next day, we went to see Norma as a Metropolitan Opera simulcast. A contrast, although Wei said he saw some resonances with Bladerunner (Druids instead of replicants?).

yeah...in a world of Replicants and artificial lifeforms, why is a billionaire still blind?

What happened to Chew's Eye Shop?

Time for the next October KoolWheelz release!!

A while back, someone on the forums posted a pic of a vintage Milk Bottle shaped delivery Truck.
I've always loved novelty themed and shaped vehicles, like the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile,
so I was totally fascinated by the Milk Bottle Trucks.

After a little research I discovered that many Dairies throughout the USA and Canada built their own
Bottle shaped delivery Trucks as promotional vehicles.
Many designs are similar, but no two trucks are exactly alike.
Although quite a few were built on mid 1930s International Truck chassis'....maybe it was a suggested starting point?

It turns out, one well known restored Bottle Truck, built on a 1937 International chassis, is from right here, in my area!
The Hall's Dairy Truck is a well known sight at local cars shows and other events in Ontario.
Hall's Dairy of Toronto may be long gone, but Barry Hall of Inisfill Ontario located and restored his Father's
original Bottle truck a few years back and now drives it regularly to events and parades.

Funny thing is...my Daughter lives in Inisfill...its a small world!

Anyway, I started designing a Bottle Truck based on the Hall's Dairy truck,
since this was the only one I had good reference photos of
...but eventually I decided to not follow that Truck exactly
...and I decided to add my own finishing touches to the model.

Its now the "Dave's Dairy Milk Bottle Delivery Truck"!

The Milk Bottle Truck will be available in the Specialz section of my website.
Enjoy
