Drive ins are the best. Of course, the scratchy speakers that you used to hook on your driver side window are gone, but most of the magic is still there: double features (the first one always starts too early so it's hard to see in the beginning, greasy Flavo shrimp rolls, french fries and hamburgers, and Yoo Hoo chocolate drink at intermission. Necking with your best girl. Ah, the memories. I consider myself very lucky that there are still 2 drive in theaters a half an hour away from my house.

Its...Intermission time!
Time to stretch and fetch. See whats cooking at our refreshment counter. Hot juicy Hamburgers. Ice cold Coke. Greasy, over-fried French Fries. Dried up, week old Hot Dogs. Chewy, stale Popcorn. Hurry...the next movie starts in 8 minutes!

I grew up in the middle of nowhere, not rich, farmland, Tx. Our snacks were popcorn
mom made, fresh tomatoes and koolaid. But we had a great time.

Aaah, I also have fond drive-in memories. Just as you guys described.
They died here in the 1980's and sadly are no more. About the same time the road houses also started to dissappear, though there are still maybe a couple of dozen genuine old time road houses left across the country. Speakers for orders at some, and still all the old clip on trays. Food is generally great.

The last drive-in I went to would broadcast the sound over a low-power FM radio.
I watched "The Lion King" for free one time by parking on the top level of the shopping mall parking garage across the road and tuning in from there. Worked ok, until a train came through on the railroad tracks that were also between me and the drive-in...

Dear Rick:
At some point do go to a drive in. A long time ago in a land far far away,,, middle of Texas Palo Pinto Country Worth Ranch Scout camp about 1967ish the Camp had a Ex Military Duce and a Half and the local drive in started having $1.00 a carload nights at the theater, picture if you will 15 or so camp staff in uniform , Folding chairs folding tables and camp cook provided sheet cakes cookies coolers of chocolate milk. We rumble up to the booth and the driver hands down a one dollar bill, we did end up paying 25 cents per scout took up four spaces hung the four speakers of the bed and had a grand time. I do remember the movie just have to look up the exact title as it was an odd one What if they gave a war and nobody came Enjoy Miles Got 2 theaters within 1/2 hour drive in Western New York Now I am going to Search South African Road House
