Halberstadt Cl.IV

Famous German WWI two-seater almoust finished.

1/48 and 1/72 kit will include 10 different war and post-war liveries.

You can't see but the cockpit includes pilot and gunner seats, control stick, fuel tank and instrument panel.

To draw the lozenge I use scans of original Halberstadt Cl.IV fabric, so colors as correct as possible.

Absolutely beautiful artwork! And perfect fit and finish. It's pleasing to see a Master at work.

I certainly want one.

Here are some pictures of the Haberstadt at the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum. I'm sure they researched it some for proper colors before they rebuilt it. Who knows, could be original fabric.

Oh boy! Another excellent biplane from your bench to enjoy. Like everyone else, I really dig those colors and the way they come out on the finished model.

I visited the U-H wing of the museum about two weeks after the Halb was set out. It was 1 of three that were in Krako Poland. US Air Force got one, Poland got one and Smithsonian got one, Each was restored by Poles, I don't know who paid for the work but I imagine The US which got two.

The original Lozenge evidently was on parts of the Wings or tail so the new fabric was copied, the guide to whom I was talking said the Fabric was printed by one of the original manufacturors, I don't know whether that's true but my source said that several extra bolts were made in a true production run.

That was from the guide. the aircraft looked beautiful. and impressive.

I hope this will lead to the construction of some Halberstadts. Especially a DrLaserified one!

Don

I'm sure I can get one punched out for the 2012 Convention.

Okay Don, I was able to acquire a 1/72 version (Thank you Roman) and I will document it's build in this thread. It's a beautiful and complete design, and it will make an outstanding finished model. Stay tuned.
