Hanriot H.D.3

Design development of a compact, well-proportioned two-seat fighter was initiated as the HD.3 in the autumn of 1917, and a prototype flew before the end of the year. Powered by the excellent new 260hp Salmson (Canton-Unne) 9Za radial, the HD.3 had an armament of two fixed synchronised 7.7mm Vickers guns and two 7.7mm Lewis guns on a flexible mounting for the aftfacing gunner. A preliminary order was placed on behalf of the Aviation miiitaire for 120 HD.3s in April 1918, the total subsequently being raised to 300 when it was also ordered for the Aviation maritime. Few HD.3s had been delivered, in fact, by the time of the Armistice, but at least 75 were completed for the Aviation miiitaire and a rather smaller quantity for the naval service.

Model represents aircraft from Escadrille HD.174, only unit have flown it, exept few flying schools.

Kit includes 1/48 and 1/72 versions and two liveries - camouflage and clear doped linen.

I like it Roman, and will certainly buy this one.

I like the nose-to-nose shot with the Blackburn Kangaroo.

Just found this image of an Escadrille HD.174 H.D.3 - Help ID French Pilot of Escadrille Hanriot Dupont 174

We all do that from time to time, Dick. It comforts me that even one of the very best model builders (and one whose historical expertise on WWI aviation is far greater than mine) can make an over-hasty identification from time to time.

I hope this beautiful model will be available soon, Roman.

Don,

The kit is already available on Ecardmodels here: 1/48 Hanriot HD-3 Fighter Two-Pack (also 1/72) Paper Model

bh69bh is posting on a dead thread

It was released January 2013. Oldie, but goodie.

There are over 4,000 different models available on Ecardmodels...so there are always some stuffed in a virtual corner somewhere in the store that you may miss

It gets worse, Robert. After reading your message, I checked my files. I bought Roman's H.D.3 when it first came out. Now I must try actually to build it.
