Kahu Hawk UAV
I've been doing a bit of work with a local commercial UAV operator - one of the guys there is a keen plastic modeller and we were talking about how cool it would be to have a model of the Kahu Hawk that they use as a giveaway. He was thinking perhaps in terms of a vacform or resin kit but was a bit put off by the thought of the whole mold-making and casting business.
I suggested that perhaps a paper model might be the way to go and explained how it could be easily scaled up or down and have the colours and markings altered to suit...I offered to post an inquiry here to see if any designers might be interested in having a crack at it for them... The aircraft is quite small with a 2.2. metre wingspan - there are images on their website www.hawkeyeuav.co.nz and also on their Facebook page, funnily enough called Hawkeye UAV...and the shapes are quite simple. They can provide CAD plans, details of logos, markings, etc They were thinking of maybe something where a wing half fits lengthways on to an A4/Letter page so looking at a span of around 20"...doesn't have to be a flyer but an actual flying model would be neat... They are hoping to have a paper model good to go by August in time for the Scale Model Expo so that they can have it at the Expo as a giveaway...and I expect that they would be keen to share it with this community too... If anyone's interested, they can either PM me or contact Hawkeye direct through their website...
