Cruisers anyone?

I see a lot of battleship models, but many fewer cruisers. I might even try my hand at building a ship if someone were to release a model of the USS Minneapolis (CA-36) One of the fight'nist ships that ever sailed the seas (17 battle stars in WWII).

A neighbor (now deceased) served on the Minneapolis.

Hi Jim,

I don't know about other manufacturers, but Wilhelmshaven (WHV) make a 1/250 scale CA-35 USS Indianapolis, CA-38 USS San Francisco, CB-1 USS Alaska, and CGN-9 USS Long Beach. HMV do a 1/250 CG-47 Ticonderoga. Granted, those aren't quite what you're looking for, but...

I would also like to see more cruiser kits. My dream would be for an Omaha class light cruiser.

Cheers, Corbin

Be it Japanese, British, or American, they all lack enough attention from designers... German cruisers fared better in this respect :o

JSC does have a few cruisers in their range, with German WW2 vessels getting thelion's share of the attention. They do have some WW2 British cruisers and Italian cruisers, but no American.

The only one I have partly completed the 3d is HIJN Agano. I would like to design an RN Colony class light cruiser but the prices from the UK government for plans would require taking out a mortgage.

Scott! Are you designing this model yourself? or is the Tuscaloosa a published model?

JSC has a nice model of the USS Helena, which enlarges very nicely if you want a larger model than 1:400. GPM and FlyModel put out kits of US Cruisers as well.
