It is a Hako version, but if you feel up for it, you could always mod it

I couldn't agree more! I'm certain that this will be a fine piece of work coming from UHU.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm somewhat offended by the fact that Starship modeler refers to one's financial status as 'poor' when working with card. I think card is not a medium for those who cannot afford plastic/resin/metal. I think it is a medium of choice that is easy to work with and is in fact something that we use because we like the challenge.

I agree, but I think he was thinking in terms of spending a few bucks on paper instead of hundreds on plastic.

The UHU one is out. Looks incredible. I actually found it while looking for Discovery models in general...got all the PDFs...and then got stuck not knowing where to start (I'm an classic plastic modeler normal)...which is what has brought me here. Has anyone here had a look at it or started it yet? I'm wondering stuff like what weight of card to print on...what diameter/length of dowel to use (it shows you building off one in one of the photos)...how to print the pages (the PDFs are formatted as 8.3x11.7 so don't fit 1:1 on 8.5x11).... Can anyone help a noob?

That page size is A4. A lot of models are offered in A4 size. See if you can find some A4 cardstock or some legal size cardstock to print the model on.

110 lb or 65 lb should do the trick.
