Rumor has it that the Gateway Arch in St. Louis was also built as a space needle. And then there was a tornado....

This would be a great subject for a good quality model by a talented designer. Apparently there was once a Dover Books model around, but I can find no page on it, just a direct link to an assembly PDF from Google: http://www.doverpublications.com/lan...structions.pdf
I found a Flickr pic of an old model (possibly the Dover) someone did. My paper model of the Space Needle | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Edit: the PDF instructions are apparently an excerpt from the book American Landmarks: Miniature Models to Cut and Assemble (http://www.amazon.com/American-Landmarks-Miniature-Assemble-Papercraft/dp/0486482812 ). It seems to be pretty small, but, hey.

That cutaway drawing is really amazing!

The Dover book is called "American Landmarks: Miniature Models to Cut and Assemble", came out this past spring and has a much smaller (1:1000) scale model of the Space Needle that I designed.

Cool! The author is amidst us. Now I've got to buy a copy. And when you design a large scale model of that cross section up there, I'll buy that, too .

Anyone interested: go to the thread elsewhere on this forum, Space Needle, Seattle 1961

I have this model available as download via my website www.zeistbouwplaten.nl, page >architecture, modern. I built the model shown there last week, ca. 60 cms high. That makes it 1/262nd.

I checked their site, did not find a paper model. I mailed - no answer. Then snail mailed well over a week ago, asking to react via email - no answer. What more can one do !?
