Channel wing aircraft
Recently I was remembering a gentleman I met back in the 80's that had developed a channel wing aircraft. My dad went to visit him for some reason and I went with him. The gentleman was in his eighties and gave me a short lesson on the advantages of a channel wing aircraft.
My research after remembering this encounter has led me to Willard Ray Custer and his channel wing designs. More info on the planes with links to his biography can be found here: Channel wing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If someone knows of an existing model of this aircraft or would be so inclined to design such, I would be very much interested in building one. Thanks, greg

Interesting!
Have seen photos of this before, however; didn't know they are capable of vertical takeoffs with just a few modifications. Soon as I started reading about it, thought about Conada and his duct fan with after-burner and sure enough the article mentions another patent using his Conada Effect from the early 1900's. Thank you for the links! Mike |
