1925 Colombe/Villard
Wilda Greenbough from another forum is building a semi-replica of this in her workshop, and I thought that this could make for a very interesting paper model. Anyone up for it? Alan?

Pretty neat looking three-wheeler.
There is someone trying to get a three-wheeler production going now. Elio Motors The thing is basically a three-wheeler motorcycle that has the driver enclosed. Kind of like a Can-Am Spyder only not as good and with a shell.

The Elio is a cute little vehicle, looks like it would be fun. I wonder if I could fit my 75" frame into one?

Having spent 32 years in the Army, mostly swappin' bullets in 'active service', I can honestly say that the biggest adrenaline rush I ever experienced was driving a Heinkel Bubble car on the M1 motorway in UK.
It really lets you know just how BIG an 18 wheeler is when it's grill is filling your rear view mirror and you're not sure if it's driver can see you down there. At least the Elio has the speed advantage ... The Heinkel was flat out at 50mph. Johnny. |

Ah yes John but take my word for it, depending on the gender and seating distributions, 3up in a Heinkel could be as cosy as 5up in a 2CV.
In the case of the Colombe/Villard the complexity is such that I reckon only a Frenchman could have thought up the arrangement for driving and steering on the front wheel. 1925 CycleKart Tech Forum |
