Use to have several sailing barges here in fact they use to hold the barge races here. Not seen any on a regular basis but do get the odd one from time to time. I'll nab some pictures if any wander by.

The later barges were slightly more streamlined Kev, and very stable, but then again, Ol' Father Thames isn't famous for rough water. He does like to have the occasional flood through.

Do you happen to have this one in your MM Collection?

Dear Forum Folks:
I just noted that I did not get the attachments on one of my posts will do again, Note that the later barges look more streamlined but I still love the early tubby little thing it is just so cute I would like to see in an original or a full sized reproduction to see just what the stern living quarters were like.
Some of the last of the working barges had a major roll in WW2 at Dunkirk would also make a good history model. Does any one know if the micro model barge is being reproduced and sold? Every 25 blue moons or so my wife will let me buy a model.
Enjoy,
Miles

Dear Gary:
This is a bump to see if you had made a model from the 3D rendering you did I really would like to make a model of this Barge.

Alright! Have that baby downloaded, thank you!
And 1/72 scale is very familiar to me, along with the close but not quite 1/76, being used for non-paper planes, games, trains.
Hmm, wonder what it would take to make that baby float and sail ...

Gary,

Thanks, much, for sharing the model. I'm gathering the bits and pieces for a mythical Thames diorama. This will add a lot more pizazz than the coal barges that I was going to use. Oh, and I picked up the Christmas Tree while I was in the area. Thanks, for that too!

John

Beautiful. I like ugly ships. Wonder if anyone will make the model as dirty as they must have been in those days...
