This simple model by Barry is the only one of this class I know of, in late war radar picket rig. Available @ ecardmodels

Anyone got an Arleigh Burke class destroyer?
I saw that someone had started one, but didn't finish it. I tried a Japanese Ageis destroyer, but the fantail was all wrong. I pre-commissioned the U.S.S. John Paul Jones DDG-53 and that would be my dream paper model. |

Someone kind enough to share a 1/700 scale of an Arleigh Burke destroyer.
A friend of mine was able to change the '51' hull numbers on either side to '53' to match my old ship. Now I can build a nice 1/700 scale John Paul Jones. At only two pages and 9 inches long it should be a quick build. |

Ahh, Gearing class DDs Dad was XO of Glennon, DD-840, for a couple years. In 1970s I got to spend a few days on the ship as it looped out in the Atlantic for a test of something or another. It was a really "nautical" feeling ship. Speaking of feeling things, one time I got to go deep in compartments in the bow, and I still swear that in putting your hand on the hull skin you could feel the water going by. That ship could throw a bit of a rooster tail when they opened up the throttles all the way.
I don't know about the Navy these days, but in Dad's days, 1960s, 70s, early 80s, destroyers sounded like they could be fun. Can't offer a model, but can offer that this is a good book, after having it several years I gave it to Dad. Sumner-Gearing Class Destroyers Their Design, Weapons, and Equipment by Robert F. Sumrall c1995 Naval Institute Press some info on the book USNI Blog » Blog Archive » Review Redux: Sumner-Gearing Class Destroyers by Robert F. Sumrall

It says A Lily Of The Valley Studio.
Got the hull, first deck and 01 level done so far. Discovered the hull sides are ~1/8" short relative to the bottom and the 01 level. I trimmed the bottom short, but not the 01 level. |

I think this post is dead. (I mean the last post is about month ago). But since my question is quite related. I did like to know if there is a free model of the Aegis Guided Missile Destroyer Arleigh Burke class available somewhere in the internet. I'm looking for a simple and easy to build model yet offer a good amount of quality. I hope someone could answer me. Any information are highly appreciated.
