The only diffs would be the turtleback and the tail fin. Remember these were built in the 1930's probably alongside each other. No RFP's or OSHA back then. (Hardly an FAA)
I am too old to figger out recoloring hence my request here. If one of Roman's (der Kampfflieger) 1/48th kits was recolored I could do a good enough job on the fin and turtleback to fool at least Rata. MS

I've looked at the P-12, but I can't figure it out. Some pictures show a weird bulge on the bottom between the wheels, and some don't have it.
I've got a .57 caliber. Course it only fires once, then takes a minute to reload. |

I think the bulge you're looking at is a drop tank. The F4B's had them too, in fact they were rarely seen without them. The P-12E was the same as the F4B-3 except for the turtledeck behind the cockpit and the floatation bags in the wings were left off. Also the P-12s were built with a tail skid but many were retrofitted with tailwheels.
