Ship Model: Newport Class LST (Landing Ship, Tank)
Hello gang,
Have been searching desperately for a paper model of the US Newport Class LSTs. (I served on one of the last ones in US service, LST 1194....google it if you are into naval disasters...turns out they don't beach on solid mountains very well...) I have a number of scaled resin models, and reproductions of the actual blue prints of this class and would be more than happy to share the data, help build, etc. if one decides to execise their design skills on a Low Slow Target Thanks! |

I served on the U.S.S. Ashland LSD 48. We referred to her as a large sitting duck. When I was on board all the ship had was 2 50 cals and the 2 ciws mounts.

U.S.S. Ponce, LPD-15.
We partnered regularly with the U.S.S. Sumter LST-1181. I'd be interested in the model as well. Depending upon the scale and how much detail is added, the model would probably be pretty vanilla. The primary sticking point I anticipate will be the bow bulge and the curved fairings into the hull. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._Rota_1982.jpg Last edited by selek7101; 07-05-2019 at 06:18 PM.
