That is a reasonable explanation. The camera couldn’t too large as I imagine the turret mechanism would take up most of the radio room. But it does make sense as that was turret the student gunner was using. Film from that angle would probably be useful feedback on student performance.

Here is an armament diagram of the YB-40 to give an idea of the layout of the additional weapons and armor. Much of this of course would have been removed from the training YB-40s.

Years ago there was a man who lived next door to me who was a mechanic on a stateside training field. He claimed while on a flight in one of these stripped down YB-40s the pilot looped the aircraft. Don’t know if it is true. I was actually more impressed that he was familiar with the YB-40.

Dear Friends:
John thanks for the info,
Miles
Would the peashooter have the basic color as the Fiddlers Green B-17 or not?

The Fiddlers Green B-17 paint scheme (though a bit on the bright side) will work.

Dear Friends:
Any one have Pictures of the PeaShooter art work? simple Web search so far have not seen any. I am going to use 1/60 scale for the Diorama Printing Aaron's RP-63 at 63.3% and the Large Fiddlers green B-17 at 81%.
Don't know if I can use the computer to change the nose art or not
Thanks
Miles
