World War One Submarines?
I found one on Papermau but it's pretty simple. Does anyone know of other kits of World War One subs? There were some interesting German and British subs from the period.

JSC does two, U-35 and the Austrian U-8 (Holland type). Michik designed a set of UB class coastal boats which is available on Ecardmodels.

Gunnar Sillén has a nice model of the first Swedish U-boat "Haijen" or "Shark" at 1:100. It was designed by Holland, and launched in 1904. Then rebuilt in 1916, so that makes it WW1. Apparently it still exists in a museum (Another example of the wonderful Scandinavian ship worship syndrome). It is described here. BILDRUMS KLIPPARK PAPER CUT OUT MODELS . I bought it directly from Gunnar some years ago. Many other ship models and a free downloadable Venetian Vaporetto on the same site.

Those pics look like a piece of Giger (creator of the Alien) art.

USS Holland SS-1
The USS Holland SS-1 was the first operational American naval submarine.

Hi All,
And hi, Sakrison. I had a quick look through this thread and the one above mentioned by maurice, and I didn't see the attached Unterseeboot. I don't know the publisher nor do I remember where I found it, but here it is in all its undersea glory. I built it once, but I didn't properly brace the hull and it developed a nasty twist. So nasty that, even though I still have it on my shelf, I won't show a photograph of it. A proper build remains to be done. I hope this helps in your search. Score and fold, Thumb Dog |
