TU-22 Blinder

Does anyone know if the Tu-22 Blinder has ever been reproduced in paper? Modelik has a "TU-22" in their catalog, with a Blinder on the cover, but the model is actually of a TU-22M BACKFIRE, which was a very different aircraft.

thanks,

Wyvern

The only one I've seen was over at Z. A tiny model done by a gentleman named Vladimir. I checked his personal info, he hasn't been active there since June. Hmm..., chased away too? Anyway, my apologies for posting his pic here without permission.

I'm working on one, scale is 1/32. A big beast to be sure! Might go down to 1/48 if it gets to be too much. Right now, it's relatively low priority behind a couple of other projects, but if there's enough interest it might move up in the queue...

Definitely interest here...the Blinder has been pretty well ignored in all media and I think it has quite a bit more character than the Backfire...

soviet cold war planes are largely ignored by the modeling community, except for the su 27, 37, mig 15, 17 and 21, don't know why but that's what I have seen, but....trumpeter (Chinese) p^%*%Ic manufacturer has been releasing some kits, but they cost a lot

Well, Avery, you have at least 2 interested parties, Mr. O'Neill and myself.

There was one from Kranich, it's pretty rare and I didn't find it on Papermodelstore. You may find a presentation at Kartonbau.de - Alles rund um's Kartonmodell... | Frisch ausgepackt | KRANICH Tu-22 1:50 Metallfolie

I so wish that someone could releicense and re-issue those Kranich and Mon models - a number of the subjects have yet to be done elsewhere and I love the cool retro feel of the models...

Post So what happened?

Since this thread was dormant since last year, any progress on a big version? I would be intrested in a 1/33 scale one ( in keeping with all my other built models.

By the way Soviet jets are not ignored in paper. I built in 1/33 scale a Yak-15, Yak-17 Yak-17UTI, Yak 23, Mig 15, Mig 17, Mig 21, Mig 23, SU-22 U3mk, Ye-152 and the Il-28. I also have kits for the Mig 25, Mig 31, Suchoi 24, Suchoi 25, Suchoi-39. There are many others as well like the Tu-22 backfire and the Tu-160.

Just need time to build them all.

Cheers

Isaac
