The Pou de Ciel is a homebuilt as well. There's also a Jodel that's on my short list of 1:1 projects as soon as the kids are out.
The plans from my Corben went with the airplane, but that would make a good project.

Well I'm the owner of sets of plans to the Ragwing Special which is a little Pitts replica biplane that would be pretty easy to do in paper. And the most recent addition to my collection that I'm already pricing materials for is the Thatcher CX4. Very pretty low wing monoplane. The cowl on each aircraft contains the only compound curves on the whole plane (other than the canopy on the CX4) so both would be easy to design and build.

Jim Bede's BD-4 would be about as simple to model as anything.

One factor is that the designers make money (to support their airplane habit?) selling the plans for the aircraft, which are not cheap as you would expect given the amount of work that goes into a good, safe design. As a result, you have to work up a paper model like any other design - and few homebuilts have the visibility and popularity (significance?) of the warbirds or commercial airplanes that are modelled.
Personnally, I'd love to see designers offer paper models of their designs as a promotional tool - promoting their specific design, homebuilding, and aviation in general. Yogi |

Strictly Speaking...
Strictly speaking most all early bird aircraft were "Home Builts". This includes the Wright Flyer and amongst others the British "Ultralights" of the 1930's. Technically most of the American race planes of the 1930's also come under this heading.

I know a guy who built a facetmobile... I've flown it.
As always, I seem to be more ambitious than I do thoughtful... I'd like to see a Starlite or Pulsar. Another good one would be a Thorpe T-18 with trigear instead of tailwheel. RANS S-6, Zenair Zodiac CH-601. Some of these are pretty interesting aircraft. Here's a link to the "Homebuilt Homepage" which is a wealth of experimental aviation information... |

Ryan, I'm surprised at you. Have you ever seen one? Ever flown one? The Zodiac is a really neat little airplane. Very responsive, not difficult to fly, and extremely easy to build. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were a Glasair snob...
