Home Built Aircraft

I am wondering why few home built aircraft are available as paper models. I'm passing the thought around to see what the general attitude is.

Most likely because outside of the homebuilt community (EAA, and the sort) most people have no idea that you can actually build your own aircraft. I know that back when I was flying a lot, I had no idea until I met some guys from the local EAA chapter, and began working and playing with some great homebuilts.

I have a few that I'd like to see done as paper models, but aircraft are way beyond my design skills....

I'm probably the last person you may have thought would reply, seeing how it is a thread about aircraft. lol I have been wanting to design some home builts and ultralights, but at current I have found no plans and few pics. Would also like to model a few hang-gliders too.

Now that would be a great bunch of subjects. I use to fly hang-gliders when I lived in Flagstaff, AZ back in the '80's. Painful but fond memories.

RVs would be a good place to start. We need more private / civil aviation subjects in my opinion.

I love the ultra-light and hang-glider ideas. Those would look great hanging from my ceiling.

There are a few homebuilt and ultralight kits out there, usually free. The Germans have a very nice ultralight trike kit, and there are kits for the CriCri (Cricket), Moni, , CH701, Jodal, and many European homebuilts available. Google is your friend.

A homebuilt I would dearly love to see it the amphibious Taylor Coot. No picture of it right now, but I've got one hidden away somewhere.
