Great. I think the 1st step is locking down a version of her.

Is U.S.S.Nevada BB-36 similar?

The Nevada is of a different class. Similar, perhaps, but not close enough to use as the basis for a 2 1/2 ft long (80cm long) model. The lines shown are the same sort of drawings/info we need, though.
I would go for the preWW2 version, but once we have the basic model, we could modify it for the later versions. The original hull lacked the torpedo bulges added in the 1920's, so that one would pretty much require a different hull. Another challenge would be the cage masts of the original version. Wayne |

I didn't think they would work but I wasn't sure. What other stuff I do have for BB-35 Texas is post refit

those are the plans I have. looking at pics of the texas I was thinking that the basic hull can be designed and the bulges added as a sort of pancake like applique. there would be a tell tale blister like lines to the bulge, as the pics mostly show the bulge faired seamlessly to the original hull. it is an approach though...

I also have digital copies of these same drawings. We still need cross-section drawings or contours in order to get the correct hull shape. I see Floating Drydock has hull lines, but it isn't clear whether they are from the original hull or with the later version with bulges. I am considering ordering them, maybe with some of the drawings for the New York (BB34).
If we make this a waterline-only model, we might be able to create the 3D model in such a way that we can add the torpedo bulges as separate parts. I am dubious that this would be practical if we model it as full-hull. Wayne |

full hull probably not. waterline somewhat do able but will have seams where the bulges attach. Texas and new York have odd slopes or tumblehomes to there midships area that look problematic. that mid riff bulge is why I never considered her for scratch building. I checked with drydock plans and they do not give specific dates to her hull line stations. if no other specific plans show up I may say f- it and build the 44 45 version. at least the color scheme is pretty simple blue on blue. the D-day version looks promising, the changes are well documented, catapaults off, aircraft landed for the invasion bombardment, blue lower hull gray for the tops and deck blue for horizontals...

A friend of mine used the Floating Drydock plans as a reference to scratch-build a 1/700 Texas and to the best of my memory they are post re-fit as well

I just ordered from Floating Drydock:
HULL-BB35/16 Bu-BB34-1/8 TFW-BB34/16 G-BB35 ...to be delivered in a tube, not folded. Wayne |

As to scale(s), I propose a 1/200 and a 1/700. Smaller scale (1/1200) might have to be greatly simplified and lose some of the essential character of the real ship.
