I'm glad you are considering 1/200 scale.

why not 1/100 scale? everything is bigger in Texas right, why not the Texas itself?

1/100? Let's see...the real ship is 550 ft long, approximately... the model would be around 5 1/2 ft long, a daunting task to design or to build. Who would have room for the completed model? I prefer 1/200.

1/200. put me down for one if I am still breathing when it's finished! I like the original version but not picky at this point

Just noticed this tread.
So it happened couple of years ago I produced her model for a plastic company. TEXAS in her 1945 configuration while operating out in the Pacific . Unfortunately Trumpeter came out with their botched version ahead of us and the entire project had to be shelved for the lack of viable return on investment. Files are proprietary so I can’t share it but no harm showing images of completed 3D model which also might be of some help. The hull is rather complex and paper reconstruction is going to be very tricky but it would be great having this model available in paper. Darius

paperlab, was there a specific set of plans you were operating from? I have the usdna or whatever plans but they do not show hull sections/stations. My thoughts are waterline, whatever version gives me the most data that I can use. of course disappointingly in 1/400 scale. I think I put enough detail that it may be enlarged with out much loss in details. I've been playing with the water bulges and casement /plated over emplacements.

I used few. First the Booklet of general plans, than set drawn by Allan B. Chesley which shows hull stations, supplemented with scans of additional BB-35 hull sections taken form the book but beat me I cannot remember now which one was it. Also some color renderings from Classic Warships; Warship Pictorial No.4 USS Texas. This is very good book with loads of photographs.
Making hull was not without serious problems since Chesley set and Boklet of genral plans hardly match each other. Ironically after the model was completed a friend of mine found at NARA an original body plan as designed from 1911. If I had your email I could forward them to you. Darius

paperlab i sent a pm. i ordered the warship classic book off ebay will arrive soon. I used that when designing the wichita and that was a big primary source. I have a few ideas that i'm sketching out now for the hull. Ironically once the superstructure is fixed to an era that will be the "easy" part. the little doodads, guns floatnets etc are already designed, as they are standard usn equipment.
