This is all your fault!

After reading this thread I ordered the Sopwith Triplane & the laser cut set (and a few other items). I need to say thank you to Krys. I had a problem registering on the site (my fault) which he was able to fix in a few minutes. Judging by the photos of the laser cut parts this should be an awesome build.

I just got my Triplane kit and the f***ing Post Office bent the envelope in half.. I'd like to go down to my local post office and kick a couple of behinds around the block.

I contacted Krys and he sold his last one yesterday........... best he can do is give me a refund, which is fine except I want the model not the money...... some things are just not worth the hassle....

Reworking the model.iceberg.ru version

That is a real bummer, SFX. I'm sorry for your loss.

I know it could never replace your lost model, but if it's any consolation at all, here's how far I've got on reworking the extinct model.iceberg.ru version of the Triplane.

I've still got a lot to go through, but once this is done, I could easily make other versions. The first one will be the N5912, one of the only two original Triplanes still here, now residing in the RAF Museum, Hendon.

The original was a free download, and so will this one be. Anyone know anything about the original designer, "Bug forever", from the Ukraine I believe?

It would be nice to give credit where credit is due, but the email addresses provided in the original download were a dead end.

Leif

Sorry man - I just got mine in perfect condition... if yours was wrapped like mine the post office must have tried to bend it - it was stiff as heck!

Nice work on that redraw leif!

Leif, WOW that is looking great...... I'm familiar with the original and your repaint look much better. I'd like to try building your repaint once you get it finished. It really looks nice. Keep up the good work.

I'll see what the post office has to say as I'm going by there later today.

Chris, I can assure you that the post office did their best to bend it. It was bent in half with two pieces of cardboard cut to size to protect it!! We've had some difficulties with the postal system around here in the last year or so.... I think it's time to go have another talk with them.

later,
Swampfox

SFX, maybe you can scan the parts in and use photoshop to remove the wrinkles? Or since you purchased it, maybe someone is willing to scan their kit and send you a copy? It won't be quite the same as building the original kit, and if you got the laser cut forms, you may need to re-cut some on your own (or maybe they'll flatten out enough to be used), and you can salvage a nice build still. Just some thoughts for recovery.

Mick, thanks so much for the picts. I am envious of your good fortune to have actually seen an actual flight. I have been to Rhienbeck Aerodrome in New York several times and it is always so cool to see those planes in an airshow, but they don't have a Sopwith Tripe in their collection.....

I'm saving your pictures to my files for future use.

Thanks very much,
Swampfox
