WWI Sopwith Triplane
 

How about a 1:33 paper model of the Sopwith Triplane, also known to RNAS as the Tripehound.

It was the a/c that the German's uses as a basis-concept for the much more famous Fokker Dr-1 of Red Baron fame.

There are several schemes that would make a nice looking model. Canadian Ace Ray Collinshaw flew with Navel 10 in Black Flight and these are really sharp looking a/c.

How about adding one or two of these to the 1/33 Aces series?

Fiddlersgreen has a version of the Sopwith Tripe. I'm not sure what version or scale though.

Orlik Sopwith Triplane
 

I very much doubt that you could top the Orlik Sopwith Triplane model. It has a complete inner wing & fuselage structure, enabling you to make a really advanced cut-away model, as well as simpler versions.

The version modeled is Raymond Collishaw's "Black Death", and the scale is 1/25, and very appropriately so in relation to the level of detail. If you really, really wish to build it in 1/33 and nothing else, you'll have to scan it and print at 75,8 percent (or 75 percent; i.e. 3/4 of the original size).

There is also one in 1/32 from the Russian Icegroup...

That is interesting. The Russian Icegroup 1/32 model is a free download model (or was, since the site is extinct). It was in dire need of recolouring. But if you are up to that task (which is kind of fun and interesting if you are so inclined), heres a way of getting that model:

Do you see what I mean by the need for recolouring? No Triplane EVER looked like that. But the framework & outlines seem straight enough.

Thanks for the info on this model and yes it looks like what I'm looking for. However, when I went out to see if I could find this model, it looks like and I'm not sure here, that there are several sites that offer it for "FREE"!! I'm guessing that these are pirated copies which I will not support.

Do you or does anyone else know of a place I can make a "Legal" purchase of this model?

Scale is not really an issue for me as I tend to build in various scales anyway.

Good choice, as they say. Go for the Orlik model.

Eventually you might want to have a look at the Orlik SE5A in 1/25 scale as well, which to my mind probably is the most complicated and true-to-scale paper model there is of a WWI-era aircraft. No. 20, a bit down on this page. As you will find out, there is an English instruction for that one.
