12,8 cm K 44 SFL auf Gerichtetem Fahrzeug

I do not have any good design softwares so I might just as well use Powerpoint for its design.
The 12.8 cm Selbstfahrlafette mit gerichtetem Fahrzeug was a very obscure tank destroyer design conceived in early 1944. Many interesting details of it were the low profile, high elevation angles and non-existent horizontal traverse angles. It was armed with a 12,8 cm gun made by Rheinmetall, one that failed to compete with Krupp's gun. It hasn't been discussed anywhere else beside this VK thread by Zinoviy Alexeev and the Secret Projects Forum where I brought it up. Thanks to him for providing me with the drawing needed for this design!
Owing to its obscurity, there are obviously no known models of it. The first draft looks rather rudimentary in my opinion, but improvements will come...

Anyway due to my laziness progress should be slow as expected. I'll try and bring some updates whenever possible though.

Have you looked into the Panzer Tracts "Paper Panzer" books, I believe numbers 20 and 21 cover this vehgicle but have no access to those at the moment.


Slow is good, frankly less haste and more accuracy works better mate. Looking forward to your progress with a very worthy project.

I've seen the book (20-1 to be exact) mentioned on a Discord server that I was on, but still uncertain of the specific page it was on. I've ordered it to see which page it's mentioned in.

And you're right about the "Slow is good, it comes with less haste and more accuracy" part, especially considering that I have awful time management, lol

Anyway after a week of much-needed rest, here's the progress so far! By tomorrow I should probably get the wheel and hopefully, some fenders done.

Here's the progress for today. The wheels are done, now the fenders, tracks and maybe some finishing details like the engine grilles will come up tomorrow.

The tracks and fenders in particular proved to be rather difficult. Getting their shape right and attaching them were frustrating at best but that serves as a lesson to not rush things, since I had hurriedly planned it out in the first place with the small pockets of time actually dedicating to this project...

With that being said, here's the second (and hopefully final) draft done!
