Looks really good. Just a suggestion, try unfolding it as vertical strips rather than the stacked cones you are doing now. Combine three or four of the model's wooden strips together into one strip to lower the parts count. Then you can add the barrel bands as separate pieces. This would more realistically represent the actual construction method and all the seams would run where the original Turtle had seams. Just a thought, take it or leave it. Still this is a subject that I've been interested in making for a long time. I made a simple model if it when I was in middle school.

Some believe the Turtle's hull was actually carved from two pieces of wood. As none of the original design documents exist all is speculation. This is a great project, I look forward to seeing the finished model.
