That reminds me of the debacle about the TSR2. A crying shame it was cancelled.

Quote:
I do recall Roland Beamont's comments that TSR2 was one of the finest airframes he had ever flown, much as, in similar fashion, Andrew Cunningham was to comment after barrel-rolling Concorde during flight testing. But let's be honest, The UK govt. in that era was out to kill any innovation and progress it could. Neither TSR2 nor Concorde was ever going to survive once some form of mishap had occurred. It also has to be remembered that the USA was pushing heavily to kill outright both TSR2 and CF105 Arrow, and would have far preferred Concorde dead as well. American Aero Industry wanted no commercially viable rivals for its' own existing or projected products, despite the fact that, with the exception of the SR71 family, no American product was at the time as good, nor likely to be. The UK was only too happy to oblige, as was Canada. The only beneficiaries of all this were USSR and PRC. Respectful Regards, Uyraell. |

Finally, some build pictures. They're 2 days old, but I had misplaced my camera's USB cord.
I still need to fix the misalignment between canopy sections, but so far so good otherwise. Scott K. |

More pix of the M.52. The model is basically finished, and includes a removable stand I've been experimenting with. Just a few small tweaks, and the model will be ready for release.
I need to set up closer to a window (and hopefully when its not so dark and rainy!) so I don"t have to use my flash. Sorry for the washed-out colors. Scott K. |

Offering a 'plain version'
...of the scale test article that actually flew? I don't have access to my references at the moment but I seem to recall it was basically unpainted(?) It would be nice in a collection of 'model' prototypes. Lots of those were used, even the F-15 was first 'flown' as a model.

I checked my references, and it seems that I'd need to do a bit of redesign to offer one of the drop test articles. One has no intake, and an even longer tail cone, and the other has a slightly shorter tail cone.
I'm on the wrong computer at the moment, so I don't have my best refs available, either. I'll check my "good" drawings later to see which way to go. I'll also need a modified Mosquito to drop one from. Hmmm, um, hey, Gary? Scott K. |

Withdrawn? I must have been having yet another bad day (like today, but I won't talk about that here).
The M.52 is #1 in my Flying Stovepipe Series. Numbers 2 and 3 will be the XP-92 and LeDuc 022. Here's a thumbnail sheet of the latest scale-corrected and recolored version. Scott K. |
