Another one of my childhood favor, Submarine 707R coming to life. ....well, almost... any day now... soon... Just finished coloring the templates in Photoshop and I can't wait to print it out next week and start building it. I originally weathered the sub. But the 707R is a brand new sub and the weathering makes it looking like a wore out sub. So half way through I dumped three days worth of weathering in Photoshop and just shaded the panels lines instead. The finished model will build into 1/200 scale, roughly 19" just under 20" in length. I have not got around to organize the parts yet, I just pack as much into a A3 as I can for printing the beta for now so I can move on to the next.

Looking really good Allen. 20" is a nice size. It would look great on a mantlepiece, or table , etc.

It is funny in a way about designing model. Building the model in 3d is like being in pregnancy. Printed out your model is like giving birth. Building your model is like watching your child growing up. When your model finished, I guess would be like your kid became a up standing man or woman that you hop your kid would be?
So, I found a old 1280 printer at the office and the tech guys are nice enough to hook it up so I can use. I just need to buy ink and paper. So..... I give birth! And is a girl. And I named her 707R. About forty some yrs ago with whatever pennies and dimes I got form my Mon and Dad, I bought a 707R Jr model kit. Forty some yrs later, I building my own. Would that count as my 707R is forty yrs in the making? The spine came out ok. I didn't do a good job as I hope I would. I glued couple of bulkheads together one step too soon and I have to cut them apart, so that screwed the alignment a bit. And the glue dry so fast in Texas heat too I didn't have much time to move thing around to line thing up(or I just getting old and move slower now). Still got a lot more reinforcement to goes on the spin before I can put the skin on. Other then that, so far so good.

I remember that 707R Jr model kit. I picked one up in Japan in 1985 (?). I had no idea what the source was, but I really liked the design. Your version looks better than the model kit!

Heat and lack of humidity well definitely speed up the glue and most other bonding processes. Looking good. I thought I was the only other person that designed using box sections between the formers. Makes for a really strong model! Looks great!
