You're applying good engineering techniques to the wing spar. And I'm glad you still have the KLM version in progress. Can't wait till you're finished!

It looks like the tail was the last thing designed in the original 3 Amigos models, in that it was very much in a beta version. Luckily it is basically just a tube, so I went ahead and made up a new version based on the original model's dimensions. The exhaust section is the same as the wing engines, as is the turbine disk. I used a heavy cardstock template that goes from the top of the vertical stab to through to the base of the engine mount to provide strength and alignment. Also makes for a good gluing tab to mount the tail to the fuselage.
I built the fuselage starting at the nose and tail, assembling it towards the middle. The final joint is the fuselage sections behind the wing center section cut out so I could reach the jointing strips through the cut outs. |

I modified the wings so that the joint between the inner and outer wing sections is parallel with the fuselage. This hides the joint better than the original design. The wing to fuselage sponson actually fits very well. The only modification I did was to glue a heavy cardstock wing rib profile to the exterior of the sponson to help align the wing to sponson joint.

The location of the wing flap fairings are marked on the wing with white profiles. The profiles are a bit too large, and in my opinion, face the wrong way. The flap fairings are short at the front, and tall at the back. That makes it hard to match the white markings on the wings. This model was not modified, but I filled in the white markings and made the thickest part near the trailing edge for future builds.
The base of the wings was trimmed to mount flush with the sponsons. Looks like the original model was designed for the wing roots to pass through the sponsons and glued directly to the fuselage. I'm making this model to be shipped in a box without the wings attached and to be finished assembled by a person with no modeling experience. Because of this I have the wings designed to be glued directly to the sponsons. |

Since I need to ship this model, I can't show how it looks fully assembled. This is how it looks with the wings dry mounted to the fuselage. The model is held on the stand with magnets.

After all my work, I would like to share the model with the community. But except for the repaint the model is 90% the work of the 3 Amigos group. They have the KLM version for free download at their web site https://3apmodels.blogspot.com/2014/...apermodel.html. I sent them an email offering the repaint model to them, but so far no response. I'm hoping they will eventually respond and post it on their site for distribution.
