Inspired Deep Space Exploration Vessel
Haven't been sleeping well lately, and last night I watched Starship Troopers, Event Horizon, and 2001 back to back. After my movie marathon, I sat down and started re-designing my colony ship in Google Sketchup. After about 5 or 6 Hours (not all at once) I came up with this. obviously influenced by all three movies with a bit of Thunderbirds tribute thrown in, Im loving how this ship is starting to look.
As much as I've gotten decent in this program, I still have yet to figure out how to skin or unfold my creations. So I ask 2 questions: 1) Opinions on my design (positive and negative are welcome) 2) Anyone up for the challenge of skinning and unfolding this ship? You will get full credit for your contributions of course. Hope you guys like this, now Im gonna take a nap

Looks good. The open framework is kind of like USS Cygnus in The Black Hole. No need for hull plating where there won't be anyone hanging out.

Enlarged the Central Core, and added a connecting Tube between the Docking Bays. Looks alot better now
Before After For size comparison, here's the DSEV with my earlier design of an Interdictor.

Once Im done, and satisfied with the ship, and can find someone to unfold it, I'll make it available to anyone who wants to build it

So far, I like the ship a lot.
So much so, I humbly offer a name suggestion. Tsiolkovsky. Why? Because, like Verne, Wells, Goddard and Von Braun, Tsiolkovsky foresaw a time when humanity would travel among the stars. I'm not certain that outside of scifi novels a ship has ever been named after him, hence suggesting it here. Humbly offered suggestion. Kind and Respectful Regards, Uyraell. |

Tsiolkovsky was one of the Fathers of Spaceflight, and a pioneer in the imagination of Space exploration, and under normal circumstances, I would glady accept your admission.
But in this case I must think about it. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was a staunch supporter of Eugenics, while I am completely against it. sorry, but in my own opinion, Eugenics is an open form of Racism and segregation. He has been honored in other ways. for example: *SF writer Alexander Beliaev has written a book in which a city and a space station are named after him. *A lunar station is named Tsiolkovsky in Stanisław Lem's novel Tales of Pirx the Pilot, story "The Conditional Reflex". *A space station is named Tsiolkovsky 1 in William Gibson's short story Hinterlands. *The character Aeolia Schenberg in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam 00 is based on Tsiolkovsky. *The Zvezda module of the International Space Station has photos of Tsiolkovsky and Yuri Gagarin posted on the wall above the aft hatchway.[17] *The Space Elevators in the Horus Heresy novel Mechanicum are called "Tsiolkovsky Towers". *The Science ship in the Star Trek:The Next Generation "The Naked Now" episode is named after him. *Episode eight of Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko is called "Tsiolkovsky's Prayer" *In the book "Limit", written by Frank Schätzing in 2009, the theory of the Space Elevator is applied in a hypothetical future.
