Black hole "CYGNUS"

Listen up peeps, Im at a pause with my "DSEV" and decided to tacke the Cygnus from the Black Hole Movie. But I need your help, I need reference pics, and maybe schematics if there out there. I can't find anything.

I hope to do this ship justice, and do this right. Maybe working together we can

Not sure how much help it will be, but here's a page on the Cygnus with a couple of fan 3D renders;
Black Hole USS Cygnus (photos and such)

Good luck with this one,

Holy plumber's nightmare, Batman!

The thing is a "solid" mass of trusses. I bet the shop that made that had some fantastic soldering technique after fabricating those parts... I cannot image how it would be done in paper except over the course of an entire lifetime of rolling little tubes...

"The U.S.S. Cygnus from the 1979 Disney movie "The Black Hole" presents a very interesting problem for the hobbyist trying to replicate an accurate model. The ship has a very unusual Gothic or Victorian design completely lit from within, making it look like a massive floating chandelier. The incredibly intricate framework with internal lighting is extremely difficult to reproduce on a small scale, and the fact that MPC's kit was molded in solid silver-grey plastic doesn't make the job any easier. It would have been nice if the kit had been molded in clear plastic, then it would have been a relatively simple matter to light it up. This not being the case, though, we must find another alternative....By E. James Small Copyright © 1998."

No question about that! Can you imagine how much work that would be? Of course, the plastic modeler side of me would make a single section, cast and reproduce it for assembly. But, that's cheating on this forum! LOL!

It would be like doing a Space 1999 Eagle on steroids.

I know it would be kind of cheating, but if I did maybe one or 2 layers of the trusses, and made the interior solid with texture, it might give the same effect while reducing the difficulty of the build.

It wouldn't be the same I know, but you always loose something when you reduce scale, and besides who WOULDN'T want a 24 inch version of this
