Awesome. Been waiting for a solid design of this plane. I'm really enjoying the build of your F3-H2 at 1:72, Poul, hopefully this one is as detailed.

I believe that would be the cannon installation. It appears faired over in most of the photos I've seen so far.
Could be wrong. It's happened!

Looks kind of like a refueling probe cover to me.

just went looking the cannon is on the other side i dont think its the refueling probe.id imagine the refueling would be more like the f22- (internal port behind the cockpit). id hazzard to say it was a sensor suite of some kind. looks kinda large on the rendering but could be the graphics throwing me off a bit.

Here is some information I found. About 2/3 of the way down the page it talks about the cannon installation.
Aerospaceweb.org | Ask Us - F-35 JSF Weapon Carriage Capacity The Air Force F-35A has a refueling-boom socket behind the cockpit, while the F-35B and F-35C have a retractable refueling probe on the right side of the nose. Only the USAF F-35A has a built-in gun, with an "Advanced 27 Millimeter Cannon", an improved version of the Mauser BK-27 revolver-type cannon, in the left wingroot. The other variants do not have a built-in gun, but can accommodate a cannon pack plugged into one of the weapons bays.
