If one would want to do everything from paper those antennas could be fabricated from cigarette paper, just cut a narrow slice (depending the thickness your aiming) and roll it between your fingers. Diluted PVA stiffens it enough for handling, glueing and painting.

Tappi, as You can see, I just completed the Yagi antennas using 0,5 mm copper wire, and it was an endeavour for my crude fingers, but if someone prefers to use cigarette paper, he can use the template and build them.

Now the Yagi antennas are complete, and, for not to damage them when i handle the model, i will mount them later on the bomb.

I found interesting information about the radar used both on Little Boy and Fat Man bombs on the site "Atomic patents" where You can find a brief description of the Patent Number: 2,452,073, related to "a small directional antennae to be put on the tail wing of an airplane in order to warn the pilot if an enemy silently slips in behind him".
More information and images are available at "United States Patent and Trademark Office", where You can see the schema of a vertical tail plan with the antennae.

Thanks for sharing those other pictures, there were some I haven't seen either.
If you are planing to make a fat man bomb in the future there is a blueprint here you might find useful-

Thanks Conqueror for the links, but I just used the picture that you indicate to me for to design my crude Fat-Man,

Little Boy-fm00.jpg

and "Yes" I will add bolts, nuts, arming or safe plugs, etc., like I did in my prototype, as you can see in the previous posts in this thread.

Best, Nando

Nando

A simple subject that you have turned into a stunning gem of a model. I can't wait to build one.

Nando, I hope you didn't take my point as critique nor critisism. The wires look just top noch. I was just thrilled because I myself found out the versatility of that kind of paper. Best luck in finishing your build. It's going to be a great model and a different one when compared to the mainstream. I like that myself.

(I just sometimes seem to express myself bluntly because of my inadequate skills in english)

I love a thread that prompts me to dig further. I just Googled "yagi antenna" to find out what it was.

Ironic that the co-inventor of this antenna array was Japanese (1928)! This same type of array was used on P-61s, Ju-88s, Sunderlands, to name a few.

Only a little progress today: the lifting hook and nut on the muzzle.

Tappi, do not worry I also have many problems to express myself in English language and online translators do not help much.
I just wanted to say that my skill does not allow me to do great things even if I try to get better with practice. It seemed to me a challenge beyond my ability reproduce the antennas with cigarette paper. Sometimes seeing so many examples of great ability and skill by many members of this group is exciting, but other times I'm feeling inadequate.
Then I take courage and return to enjoy myself, as I can, with paper scissors and glue.

About masters, congratulations for your kayak that has rightly earned the POW! BRAVO! The model is particularly well executed, but the setting and the composition of the presentation make it an example of how a few simple details can create a sense of presence: seems real and in his ambient!

Cdavenport, practicing the modelism is for me a therapy and a process of knowledge.
A therapy because the need to calm myself and to concentrate on the manual activity, it gives me a chance to overcome the daily worries.
A knowledge in two ways: first making a model, the hands understand phisically the nature of the object,
and second every particular, that you reproduce, triggers the curiosity how does it works and how is it made. So i start to look for information on internet, on books, on forum ... and at every step the curiosity increases with the will to increase the level of reproduction.

I apologize for my english and I hope you understand my mind.

Best, Nando

LB completed

The Little Boy is completed, here with the prototypes.

And then the dolly.

Best, Nando

PS: I put the plugs green (safety) because i'd like to rapresent the bomb not armed, on the dolly!
