Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe WIP

I just wanted to share my current project.
I fell in love with this car when I saw it and I just had to make it.
I still don't know what scale it will be, because of the level of detail I'm thinking 1/12 or even 1/10, and possibly a smaller exterior only model.

I will start the beta build as soon as I get a chance.

I am a fun of the curvy Daytona as well. It looks great on paper (on screen actually ), and I guess it will look great as a paper model too.

I thought all the actual Daytonas were dark blue but I've been wrong before.

Well, there very few options, as you rarely see a Shelby Cobra in anything other than red with a black stripe or blue with a white stripe.

Hi, yes it will be probably blue and white the funky color in the pics it's only to keep the different parts organized, so each different color is actually a single piece of paper. In my picture research the number 98 has been coming up constantly so maybe I'll make that one. I'll make some more research on the history of the actual car to decide.

HERE is a good source for these things, the Racing Sports Cars site--you can search by car, driver, individual race, all sorts of handy stuff.

I've linked you to the cover page for the Shelby Daytona Coupe, HERE. In addition to the photos, you can follow the documentation to search out individual races and such.

THIS LINK gets you two nice photo galleries of the two coupes at the Watkins Glen salon in 2001, very helpful details--but you might want to cross-check the markings if you're being careful to document a particular outing for any car; they changed just about every race.

Email me at hudsonduster AT hotmail DOT com and I will send you a .pdf that details the colors and markings of Coupe #CSX2287 in each of its ten outings.
