Chassis #1

I finished the first draft version of the parts of the chassis.
Here are some photos showing the technique that I usually use to build the cross bars.
I checked, while I was building the prototype, that it is very important to build parts thoroughly, making straight folds and I found this:
I scored the fold in the back and I used tweezers to make the folds straight.

The model of the trailer is becoming complex: only this part of the frame has 52 parts.

More to come.
Best, Nando

The intense amount of work you are putting into this design is clearly evident by the extreme detailed presentation as shown in your photo updates...loving this build more and more!!

Cheers!

Thank You Jim for your praise.
Some more little step ahead.
I did a simple jig with two square rulers for to keep at right angle the bars while I was gluing the triangular plates on the bottom side. Then I discovered that I forgot to paint the back side of the plates, so I modified the sheet, collecting the plates in a group and drawing the painted rectangle on the back side.

More to come. Best, Nando

Chassis #4

The flat section of the chassis is complete.
The next step is the forward structure that supports the steerable axis.
In the mean time I designed a jig for the forward section.

Some progress today on the bars that connect the flat portion of the chassis with the forward support of the steerable axis.

I used the third version of the jig and it seems that it finaly works out!

The jigs you are coming up with for this project are terrific. A very well thought-out kit. I can't wait for it to be available at ecardmodels.

Just bought a copy of "The First War of Physics" by Jim Baggott. Color picture
of "Fat Man" on the cover, and A black & white picture of the first "Fat Man"
that was used in the Trinity test. Lot's of spaghetti on the outside of that one!
