Drachenbaloon 1/72
I ventured into the design of this particular model of World War I, a German kite balloon the First World War, the Drachen.
I thought it was possible to realize it in 1/48 scale , but, in 1/72 scale turns out to be long cm.39 also using a paper size DIN A3. In 1/72 scale, the model is 39 cm. long. Not impossible, but complex to use the scale of 1/48 It would have been nice to create a diorama with a Nieuport in flight with anti-balloons rockets . matt77 |

Matt
This was on my to-do list, too! Nice to see a skilled designer doing what otherwise had been a lot of work for me ;-) A small suggestion: In almost every photograph, the base cylinder of the balloon seems to be bent a bit upwards in the middle, will you try to imitate this? I think it would give the whole model a lot of extra character. Looking forward to see more of this project! Best regards, Thorsten |

Wow, Marco, la tua capacità di progettare modelli originali supera le nostre speranze di vedere alcuni progetti su carta, come questo.
Non avrei mai immaginato di vedere un palloncino "salsiccia" nel forum. Wow, Marco, your ability to design original models exceeds our hopes of seeing some projects on paper, like this. I never would have imagined seeing a balloon "sausage" in the fórum. |

Ah, Jose Luis,
I realized that this is an extremely ambitious project, I do not know if I'll be able to make it happen. I try ... bye, matt77 |

Well, Mark, I think your skill and experience is guarantee of success
As a curiosity, to see a couple of images of captive balloons German observers. It's supposed to do quite cold up there |

I mean the balloon's main hull. Here's an exaggerated sketch of what I mean:

Ah, yes, I understand.
Yes, it was my intention to do so "deflated"! I believe to realize a cylindrical support base, and cuts make it less straight. Twelve big strips and fourteen connection strips (interposed) should wrap this base. we will see matt77 |

On the Wings of Glory Aerodrome, Blackronin showed how he built a balloon from paper.
