Mk 82 Snake Eye

So, after some discussion on my GPM A-6 build, I decided to branch out and try to design a Mk 82, as I haven't been able to find a good model of one.

I looked at a couple of websites, finding one that had some pretty detailed shots of the bomb winglets, and proceeded to scratch build the tail mechanism.

I still need to scan the parts in, and include the front part of the Mk 84 bomb that I used here...

What dya'll think?

I wished that I caught your thread before you started it, but in case you may want to do another one, here are some photos of the Mk 82 and links which are imbedded with the photos. MK 82 snake eye - Bing Images Good job on the design and to what scale is it originally.

Shoot man! I think you've got it! I notice that you only have one fold (ridge) between the end turn ups. You need two.

Other than that it's perfect........... 11 or 21 to go.

I used a~1/33 Mk 84 2000lb bomb that I had made, so this is approximately 4" long, the 1/33 model needs to be about 3" long

I did a quick proportion scale in PhotoShop.

So the tail unit is 1/2 of the bomb or 1/3 of the whole. Does this make sense?

Oh......... I measured from the end of the fuse.

Thanks for the pictures and advice John and silveroxide!

John, does it look like the tail fins are a little too short for the body? Thats what I was thinking..

And I definitely have 12 more, thats just a mockup :P Although if I can get them finished before the canopy comes it won't matter anyway.

Any suggestions for a quick MER design?

If it is supposed to be 3 inches at the needed scale, then the bomb should be 2 inches and the high drag tail section should be 1 inch.

MER - I was hoping that one came with the model........ guess not? Let me look around and see if any of the models I have have one, if not we'll knock one out ( or two).

Does the model come with drop tanks? If not we can do those too.
